Greetings from Vegas! I flew to Nevada first thing this morning for work. I've been here a couple of times on work trips, and to be honest, the Las Vegas strip really isn't my thing. While I can have fun gambling or seeing a show, it really doesn't do it for me. That's why when my co-workers and I carved out time this afternoon to visit Red Rock Canyon and hike around a bit, I was really looking forward to seeing a different side of Las Vegas. And Red Rock did not disappoint! It was beautiful here, and I found the rock formations and colors to be so neat. Here are some photos from the excursion: There were a lot of bikers and hikers around, and I definitely would love to come here sometime and do a day full of outdoor exercise! Well, I'm exhausted and have a ... [Read More]

Celebrating Three Years
Yesterday Adam and I celebrated our third anniversary. We had a low-key night together - I made us homemade minestrone soup, we went to the dog beach with Harley at sunset, and then played cards & enjoyed some yummy red zinfandel at home. A few sights from the beach: Thus far our marriage has been full of adventure and travel. The day after we got hitched, Adam and I moved from the Northeast to Florida for a few months while he finished schooling for his job in the Marine Corps... After that, we embarked on a journey moving to the West coast. We had an amazing time road tripping 2,500+ miles, and got to see some awesome sights across the country. Here are a few of my favorite memories from that trip: We've been separated quite a bit in these past three years. ... [Read More]
Sights and Eats in Amsterdam
Hi there! After a long but smooth day of traveling, I arrived back in San Diego last night. I was deliriously tired and practically face planted onto the couch last night, got a long night of sleep, and am feeling pretty good today. I'm taking it somewhat easy today to give myself a day to catch up and get some errands done. Anyone else feel like they need a day to get back on track after traveling? Now, first thing’s first – the winner of the contest giveaway!I’m totally late in getting a winner announced since working overseas and soaking up as much of Amsterdam as I could left me with no chance to blog. Thanks to everyone who participated! As chosen by SlimKicker, the winner is WannaBeFit, whose ideas were as follows: - Do 10 crunches or pushups everytime there is a commercial ... [Read More]
Recap of Some of My Favorite Thai Adventures
I'm back to my usual routine today... well, sort of. I fell asleep late and woke up bright eyed at 4 AM this morning. WHY HELLO JET LAG! I've been exhausted all day, but am hoping to be back to normal by tomorrow. Before I get back to my typical blogging, I want to do one more post about the adventures I had with Adam in Thailand. Some of these pictures are too fun not to share with you! Sea Cave Canoeing in Phang Nga Bay is one of the coolest experiences I've had to date. We got to navigate our way into these beautiful caves, a few of which we barely fit under. It was an unforgettable part of the trip: We also visited what's known as James Bond Island, where part of the 1974 movie "The Man with the Golden Gun" was filmed: And then we got to see a ... My Favorite Eats & Drinks When Visiting Thailand
Hello from San Diego! I got back home late last night and picked up Harley earlier today from the pet resort. She was a ball of energy until a few moments ago, when I sat down on my couch and put up my foot rest, her favorite napping spot. She promptly curled up on my legs and passed out. As I'm in a food coma from all the eating and drinking I did this vacation, I thought it'd be fun to highlight my favorites: Food Fresh fruit - I ate a ton of fruit in Thailand. Half the time I wasn't even sure what exotic fruit it was that I was eating. The pineapple and watermelon were especially delish and refreshing in the 95 degree, super humid weather! Street vendors and the Thais at the food huts on the beach will cut up and slice the fruit for you so you can enjoy it right then and ... [Read More]
We’re Off to a Fabulous Start in Thailand
Guess who arrived as scheduled late last night?! :) My Marine and I both made it through our flights with short layovers and multiple other modes of transportation without any serious delays or complications. Awesomeness, and also proof that sometimes things actually do work out according to plan! We spent our first day in Thailand soaking up the sun at the beach, swimming in the ocean and just relaxing. We were pleasantly surprised at how close the beach is from our hotel. We knew it was walking distance, but Kata Beach is literally right across the street! Not to mention that it was really interesting people watching today. Let's just say we saw (way too) many Speedo-clad men and topless women, and there were so many languages being spoken around us. I just love observing ... [Read More]
