When I was in San Diego last week, I made sure to hit a few of my top restaurants in the area. We had a lot of social plans so that we could see all of our friends in town, but one night Adam and I had a cozy dinner date just the two of us at our favorite little Italian restaurant in the city -- Arrivederci Ristorante. It's the kind of Italian eatery where the man who answers the phone when you call to make reservations says things like, "bellissimo" and "ciao bella." It's an old school, authentic kind of place... one where their website is always displaying internal errors, which probably doesn't bother them much because their food speaks for itself. It's a restaurant located in a quaint space that's constantly bustling with happy diners, their bellies full of pasta and ... [Read More]

Thanksgiving in San Diego
Hi friends! I hope that all of you in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving! I got back from San Diego late last night and had an awesome trip. I took a hiatus from my computer pretty much the whole time I was there, which was a nice change since I'm on my computer so much between work, blogging and personal use. But I missed you all! Let's recap my Thanksgiving weekend highlights and how it all reminded me of how blessed I am: There was a big hair change.... I chopped it off the first night I was in SoCal! My hair had gotten too long and I wanted to get a cut, so I decided that I mine as well really cut it and donate it to a good cause. I chopped it off a few years ago and donated it, and my hair tends to grow back quickly -- I thank all of the fruits and veggies I eat for ... [Read More]
A Sunday Adventure: Three Sisters Waterfall Hike // Descanso, CA
When I found out a few weeks ago that my hubby and I will be moving out of the San Diego area very soon, I started thinking about the things we haven't done yet here that I want to experience. That's why last weekend we did a whale watching cruise, and today we did the Three Sisters Waterfall Hike. Three Sisters Falls is located in a town called Descanso, around 50 miles from where we live. To get there, we had to drive through very rural areas and back roads where we saw more animals than people. We rode on a very windy, bumpy dirt road for awhile with just a few ranches and hardly any other cars, and we weren't so sure that we were going the right way. I had written down directions before we left, knowing that cell service would be spotty - which is totally was - and man, it made me ... [Read More]
A Weekend of Celebration
The past two days were all about celebrating the great things going on in my life. I have so much to celebrate, including these biggies: First, my hubby just finished his last day of work as an active duty Marine Corps officer. My years as a military wife have been full of ups & downs and lots of adventure. Adam and I have grown so much as a couple, and I'm really proud of how we've made it through everything together. Secondly, we received word last week that Adam has been offered a civilian job that he really wanted. YEA! The job is in San Jose, so we'll be moving very soon to Northern Cali. I absolutely adore San Diego and will be a bit sad to leave here, but I am super excited to move up to the Bay Area. Wine country! Redwoods! San Fran! I can't wait to explore up there and ... The Never Ending Injury
Greetings from San Diego! I flew back to the West coast last night after 2 weeks of being in Jersey with my family. I am so happy that I made the trip back East to see my grandma in the hospital. I hung out with her yesterday before heading to the airport, and she is most definitely progressing and seeming more like herself. The pneumonia is clearing out, and the surgery to remove her tumor went great as far as we can tell. They removed her breathing tube and a bunch of other IVs and contraptions a few days ago, which was a great note to leave on. The past few weeks I've been constantly thinking about the people I love and how important they are to me. Nothing compares to family! I was super excited to see my hubby and pup last night. Reunions are always great after time ... [Read More]
San Diego Restaurant Week
It's been a great week to be a foodie in San Diego! Why? Because January 13 through today was San Diego Restaurant Week, a culinary bi-annual tradition here when tons of restaurants (over 180 this time!) offer prix fixed menus at discounted prices. Yummy eats at cheaper prices? Yes please! Lunch courses run from $10-20, and dinner menus range from $20-40. I had two fun dining experiences this week. My favorite meal was today, when I met my friend Tiffany for lunch in Del Mar at a restaurant called Kitchen 1540. It was an awesome place within the gorgeous L'Auberge Hotel. The restaurant had a cool vibe to it, and we sat outside on the spacious patio. It was perfect out! Both of us got super yummy salads as one of our courses: I've mentioned before that I am not a big fan of ... [Read More]
