Hi friends! I haven't been around the past bunch of days, and I've missed blogging! The reason I've been a bit MIA is because my father-in-law flew in from the east coast to visit my hubby and me. I've been busy having fun around town and hosting him in our new home. Although we had a couple of days of overcast skies, we also had a few days with gorgeous weather to enjoy. We spent all Sunday afternoon at the beach soaking up the sun in Carlsbad: When guests come to town, I inevitably wind up whipping up a lot of yummy food for us to enjoy. What can I say, I show my love with food! My father-in-law went gluten free earlier this year, so I had a bit of a fun challenge in coming up with all GF fare. He also has a huge sweet tooth, so I knew that dessert was a must. One dessert hit was ... [Read More]

Weekend Beach Picnic + My Picnic Essentials
Ahhhh, the beach.... Like a lot of people on the planet, it's definitely one of my happy places. This weekend I was able to get to the beach two days in a row! On Friday, my hubby convinced me to take an hour work break at lunchtime to head to the beach with him. There had been an insane amount of anchovies in the water the day before - apparently the largest school of northern anchovy seen in local waters in 30 years: (source) Wow right?! There are so many anchovies it looks like an oil slick. Adam had gone surfing and swam amongst them the day before and said it was really cool. We were hoping the fish would still be around, but they had moved on by Friday afternoon. I'm not going to lie, if they were still there I probably would have been a little freaked out swimming in the ... [Read More]
Fruit Bowls, Bird Poop, Tennis, Oh My! Weekend Recap
Hi friends! You can probably tell from my post title that I'm lacking some wittiness at the moment, but I keep having such fun weekends, so I'm back again this Monday sharing a recap of my last few days. My weekend kicked off with my cousin Michelle coming into town to stay at my place on Friday night. First we went for a short yet sweaty evening hike with Harley.... ...and then went to a Mexican restaurant called Norte to grab some dinner. I ordered a plate with a veggie tostada, rice, beans and an avocado taco. It was my first time dining at Norte, and I would definitely go back sometime. I thought it had pretty good food and a nice outdoor dining area, plus it's right next to the beach in Carlsbad. Now that I've moved to the northern side of San Diego County, Michelle (who lives ... Weekend Shenanigans: Harley Wants a Dog Stroller
Hi there! If you haven't yet, don't forget to enter my Bondi Band sporty headband giveaway. It ends tomorrow and doesn't have a high amount of entries, so chances of you winning are good! Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. My weekend was great! Let's delve into a recap of it: I kicked off my weekend with a hike with Harley at a nearby spot called Lake Calavera Hills Preserve. It's a pretty area, and one pretty unique aspect of it is the 22 million-year-old volcanic plug that's located there: The first time I went hiking here, we saw a rattlesnake. This time, towards the beginning of my hike, a man warned me that he had seen a couple of snakes there that day. Since Harley loves to stick her face in bushes and zigzag around exploring, I felt somewhat paranoid of her ... [Read More]
My New Home
Greetings from SoCal! Fortunately the move went pretty smoothly last weekend and I've been busy unpacking and getting things in order. Even though we're living a good 45 minutes north from where we resided last time we lived in the area (for reference for any locals, we lived in Mission Valley before and just moved into Oceanside), I'm already starting to feel at home and am glad to be back! I didn't know many people in the Bay Area and am enjoying having friends again! The first day we were here, a couple of our friends came over to help us unpack and see our place. We drank some wine and caught up, and it was a nice break from the madness of moving. Last night, I got together and had some Greek food with one of the first friends I made when I initially moved to San Diego. Her ... [Read More]
My Next Bold MOVE
Happy Friday! I've been MIA working in Vegas all week, but now I'm back home in Cali and excited to share a big announcement with you today. I think that my hubby and I are adventurous people. For instance, we went skydiving to celebrate our first birthdays together. We make decisions with our intuition and heart. For example, we had an engagement party a few months after the proposal so that our families could meet each other, and when people asked when we were getting married we said, "We're going to the courthouse to make it official this Friday!" It felt so crazy and exciting, but I knew it was right for us. While I don't make impulse decisions, I also don't plan life out strictly. I like to think things through, decide what feels right to me, then just go with it ... [Read More]
