It's pretty easy to tell that I loving living an active lifestyle. On a daily basis I take my dog on a long walk or hike, and do strength training, yoga, kickboxing, barre, cycling, rowing, or any and every crazy workout that comes my way. But running? I can't say that I'm a fan. However, last weekend I had to make an exception and go for a run, but not just a regular old run: San Diego's Fit Foodie 5K race to be exact. When I heard about the event, I knew that it was right up my alley. Put on by Cooking Light and Health, the Fit Foodie 5K race weekend is jam-packed with happenings that seem quite obviously fitting for a girl with a blog called Foodie Loves Fitness, including celebrity dinner and brunch events, a cocktail night, sunrise yoga session and bootcamp class, and a 5K with ... My Tips for Eating Healthy When Dining Out
Hello, hello! My weekend flew by, Monday was a very busy day, and now here we are and it's Tuesday already. Over the weekend, I was quite the lunchin' lady, with two restaurant get togethers on my agenda. One date was catching up with my first friend that I made as a Marine Corps wife, and the other was meeting a new friend for the first time who I had connected with via social media. Dining out can be challenging if you're trying to lead a healthy lifestyle, so I wanted to share with you some things that I do to maintain a healthy diet when eating out. Let's get to it! Tip #1 - All in moderation: If you want to enjoy something indulgent, I say go for it. I think that you should be able to have your cake and eat it too.... but preferably, that cake is a small slice. My New Favorite Hiking Spot: Elfin Forest
Meet my new favorite place to go hiking: When I moved back to San Diego County a few months ago, it was funny because although I was back in a general area that I had lived in before, I'm 45 minutes north from where I had lived prior. It has been like learning the ins and outs of a whole new place, although the area is familiar. One of the first things I started searching for in my new area was new favorite hiking spots. After all, hiking is one of my favorite things to do. It's not only a way that I get exercise and exercise my dog, it's also a meditative practice for me. It's a way that I process things and clear my head. Often, I start off a hike with a dilemma or just something that I'm contemplating, and by the time I get back in my car, I've resolved it. Escondido's Elfin ... [Read More]
