Happy Friday! Any fun plans for the weekend? I have a couple of things on the books that I'm looking forward to! I'm sure I'll be chatting with you about them next week, but today, I want to back it up to last Saturday, when my hubby and I had a fun day date that included a great workout together. Grotto Climbing & Yoga is a new gym that opened up last month in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. When I heard about their unique combination of being an indoor climbing gym plus a yoga studio, I was intrigued. I had never gone indoor rock climbing before, so that alone made me want to visit Grotto. The gym was nice enough to welcome me to come try out their facilities and see what they were all about, and I brought A along with me. ... [Read More]

Cedar Creek Falls Hike Recap {San Diego Area}
"Climb mountains not so that the world can see you, but so you can see the world." Happy Friday! Any fun Super Bowl or weekend plans? Speaking of the weekend, today I'm hopping back a few weekends to talk about where I spent part of my MLK Jr. holiday: When I found out that both my hubby and I had no plans for the Monday holiday I had off, I decided that it'd be a great day to try a new hiking trail in the area. Since Southern Cali has gotten a good amount of rain recently (well, for here at least!), I thought it'd be cool to check out a waterfall hike. We decided to head out to the Cedar Creek Falls Trail - a hiking spot located in a town called Ramona about an hour from my house. ... [Read More]
Embracing What is | Monserate Mountain Hike Recap
Hiking is one of my favorite ways to clear my head, enjoy nature and practice mindfulness. I always consider it time well spent as I'm trekking up a mountain, feeling the breeze, and taking in the scenery, and every time I reach the peak, I do so with a grateful heart. (source) However, just as with everything in life, sometimes hikes don't go exactly as planned. This was the case last weekend, when I set out to try hiking a new trail: Monserate Mountain in the nearby town of Fallbrook. Sometimes when hikes don't go exactly as planned, it's because I get lost while I'm actually hiking; other times I get lost trying to get to the trail itself. The latter was the case last Saturday. One of the challenges of finding new hikes is figuring out how to actually get there, since I find ... [Read More]
The Peaks of My 2014
Happy New Year’s Eve everyone! What are your NYE plans? My hubby and I are heading up to Anaheim today to meet up with my family, who are in town for a week. My dad is a high school football coach, and is coaching an all-star game with some of the best players in the nation here, so he’s in California with my mom, sister, older brother (who also coaches football), sister-in-law and nephews. It’s kind of funny that I was just in Jersey where they all live, and then a few days later they all flew out to my neck of the woods on the west coast, but I’m looking forward to getting to see them some more and spend New Year’s together! As 2014 comes to a close, I thought it’d be neat to look back at the highs of my year. Here are my 2014 highlights! Buying a home & moving back down to ... [Read More]
ClassPass: A Great Fit for the Hyperactive Exerciser (Like Myself)
When people ask me what workouts I typically do, I usually rattle off a list of things: hiking, kickboxing, cycling, strength training, yoga, rowing, barre, and so on. I usually follow it up by saying something along the lines of, “I do a lot of different regimens, but I'm not really an expert at any of them." It’s true, I’ve never been into just doing one type of workout. I know that lots of people are strictly runners, or are amazing yogis and that’s their signature regimen, or wherever their fitness passion may lie, but for me, I’ve always wanted to do a bit of everything. I call it exercise ADD, and I figure that as long as I’m moving, it’s good for my body and soul to keep switching it up. Over the past month, I’ve been trying out ClassPass. You can check out my full ... [Read More]
ClassPass Hits San Diego
Hello, hello! Many of you know this since I talk about it all the time, but I love varying my workouts and switching my fitness routine up often. It keeps things interesting for both my body and mind, and makes me look forward to my workouts instead of feeling bored. I'd love to be a regular at a bunch of different studios, but each specialty gym usually costs a pretty penny for membership. That's why I was excited when I heard that ClassPass was starting up in San Diego! ... [Read More]
