Hi friends! Since we're on the backend of this week (YAY for Friday tomorrow!), I thought I'd share a few of my favorite eats from the past several days. While I wasn't feeling green monsters last week and sort of took a short hiatus from them, I've been back at it this week drinking them as my morning fuel. This week's pick: strawberry apple cucumber spinach swiss chard juice. My thoughtful, wonderful grandma made my day at the beginning of the week when I opened my door to find this Edible Arrangements fruit delivery from her. She sent them to me as a "hope your foot feels better soon" gift. I've been enjoying the fruit from it every day! This is the grandma whose hospital bed I sat by in the ICU for weeks back in February in NJ, who just finished chemo and is now starting ... [Read More]

Avoiding Pigging Out After Workouts
While checking out the July/August issue of Fitness magazine tonight, one of the cover stories caught my eye: How to Beat Post-Workout Pig-Outs. You see, I recently realized that I kept coming home from the gym feeling starving and wanting to just shove food in my mouth - as of late, handfuls of cereal, dried fruit, and spoonfuls of peanut butter were my picks. Since I most often workout in the late afternoon/early evening and make dinner once I come home, I'm about to eat soon after I exercise anyways. But in the time it takes me to get home, prep dinner, and then sit down to eat it, I found myself eating unnecessary calories. Once I realized that this was something I'd been doing that I did not want to make a usual habit, I came up with a few minor adjustments to make in order to help ... [Read More]
A Dose of Workout Inspiration
I'm a big fan of mantras and affirmations, and today I felt like checking out some quotes for workout inspiration. I thought I'd share my favorites that I just came across. I'm about to hit the gym, and I hope that this inspires you to go exercise and get those endorphins flowing today too! Live with Intention
Last night after watching my DVRed episode of The Following (SO good yet SO disturbing!), I needed to watch something lighter to get visions of psychopaths and murder out of my head before going to sleep. I wound up putting on a reality TV show about Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte. In the episode, Ryan talks about his work hard, play hard mentality. While I don't think show is meant to be inspirational or anything more than goofy late night entertainment, I went to sleep thinking about how this mindset really resonates with me and is how I always want to live my life giving my all, taking chances, and living life to the fullest. When I woke up, I zipped through my work with great productivity. Later on I had a session with a personal trainer at my gym. I went into the workout with Ryan ... [Read More]
Measuring My Body Fat Percentage
After a few months of doing lots of outdoor workouts and at-home exercises with little gym time, I was ready to join a gym in my new town. My hubby thinks I'm nutty, but I like to immediately feel good vibes at the gym I join. After all, I know I'll spend a lot of time there! In the past I've been a member at gyms with interesting scenes - including one that had just turned coed from being an all-male gym (HELLO shirtless grunting men everywhere!), one that felt more like a club than a gym (lots of women with their hair down and cleavage out, hanging around waiting to get picked up) and one where a couple of my ex-boyfriends worked out (awkward!). So, after checking out a couple of facilities, I found an Anytime Fitness club that seemed like the perfect fit and immediately joined. It's ... [Read More]
My “Klutch Moments” This Week
Hello and Happy Friday! My time in Vegas this week was fun and work-wise it went great, but I'm also happy to be back home in the Bay Area. Things are finally looking pretty good in my new place, and my next focus is getting decor on the walls! This week I was thinking a lot about how healthy living is a journey, how it's about everyday decisions we make to be good to ourselves on the inside and out. While we tend to beat ourselves up over any decisions we make that stray from being our healthiest selves, sometimes we forget to celebrate the positive moves we make - no matter how big or small they may be. It's important to recognize and pat ourselves on the back for the efforts we put in to creating a healthy, happy life. This concept was on my mind because I was recently contacted ... [Read More]
