3 apples, 3 stalks of celery, 4 cups of kale, 2 Persian cucumbers, 3 large carrots, 1 cup of lentils, 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup of diced tomatoes, juice from 1/2 lemon. That's the awesome list of fruits and vegetables that I put into my body today. When I woke up this morning, I decided on a whim that this lovely Thursday would be a detoxifying day for me. Maybe it was because I felt like I needed a good dose of vegetables and fruits today, or maybe I just felt like a super healthy, self-love kinda day. My workout of the day was an hour of yoga, working out all of my tight spots and giving my achy muscles some low-impact movement. I juiced for breakfast and lunch, and surprisingly, wasn't really even feeling like I was starving for a real meal with some chewing involved until ... [Read More]

Autumn Slim Down Update & What I Ate Wednesday
Happy Wednesday! Firstly, here's my weekly update on my autumn slim down challenge: I think that taking a break from the scale last week was a great idea for me, and I continued to push forward with eating smaller portions of healthy, delicious food with some indulgences sprinkled in, and working out daily. I don't think I could lose the scale completely, but I think I might ditch the scale for a week or more at a time more often. Since I first talked about wanting to lose 5-10 pounds a little over a month ago, I've lost 5 pounds. I feel great, and want to continue my weight loss efforts for the next couple of weeks to see if I can tone up a bit more and lose another couple of pounds. (source) For anyone out there reading this whose trying to lose weight, I know that it feels like ... [Read More]
Review: Lorna Jane Activewear
Confession: I'm kind of a workout clothing junkie. Not only do I exercise nearly every day, I also work from home the vast majority of the time - where I mostly wear, you guessed it, workout clothes. I even sleep in comfy workout gear sometimes. Since I sport activewear so often, I like my clothes to meet the following criteria: 1.) cute, 2.) fitted yet not too tight, 2.) allow me to move without feeling restricted or constantly falling down, 3.) comfortable, 4.) breathable. <-- I have this one shirt that makes me feel like I'm immediately sweating in it, and I hate that! Now that you have an idea of my love for workout attire, you can understand why I was excited when Lorna Jane contacted me to try out some of their activewear. Lorna Jane is Australia's #1 activewear brand, ... [Read More]
Ditching the Scale This Week
"Trust your first instincts, they're always right," the spunky yoga instructor at Yoga Inside Out said to me during a sweaty power yoga class I took with Gina last week. The instructor was talking specifically about my lack of decisiveness in finding where to place my hands during a pose, but I took her little reminder with me when I left class and applied it to life in general. Last week I was having a hard time on the weight loss front. I was working my butt off in my fitness regime and practicing portion control with my eats, but I kept stepping on the scale and seeing not a teeny bit of change. By the end of the week, I realized what I instinctively wanted to do: ditch the scale for a bit. It was only throwing my game off mentally, and the scale certainly does not tell the ... [Read More]
Leg Burner Interval Workout
Hi there, and Happy Hump Day! Over a week has flown by since my last autumn slim down update, so today I'm filling you all in with how things have been going the past week. Since my main thing with toning up is portion control and keeping my calorie intake around 1,400 a day, I'm happy to say that I've been right on track with that and lost a bit over 2 pounds from last Monday to this one. I indulged a bit on most days, but all in moderation. A few of my sweet tooth eats included a lollipop on Halloween (though I remember Blow pops being better?!), a mug of hot chocolate, and these pumpkin pancakes with dark chocolate chips: Sometimes eating pancakes for dinner just does the soul good! As far as workouts go, I fit in lots of good exercise time last week. One of the days I really ... [Read More]
Focusing on the Positive
Well, we've figured out a Halloween costume for my dog. She's a Cone Head. Or, as my hubby's referring to it as, a Satellite Dish. I kid, I kid. Harley has had this rash-y looking kind of thing on her tail that she won't stop messing with, so I took her to the vet today to get some medicine and the dreaded cone. They think it's an allergic reaction, which is weird because I was just at my doctor last week for a rash due to my never-ending allergies. So we both have annoying allergies! I felt bad leaving her alone after our traumatic doctor experience, so I did an at-home workout instead. A few minutes into my workout, I turned around to see her creepily staring at me. A little while later, she moved really close to me and, I swear, continually gave me dirty looks. If that's not ... [Read More]
