Happy Friday! I can't believe that I've been in my new house for almost 2 weeks already. You know what they say - time flies when you're unpacking a million boxes of stuff, shopping for appliances and furniture, and figuring out how to take care of a pool! ;-) A few days after we moved in, I was ready to get back to my healthy morning routine. Life was so crazy and out of whack for awhile there, and I just felt like I wanted to start my days off on the right foot. It has been so nice to get into the habit of doing these three things when I wake up in the morning: (source) 1.) Drink a big glass of water. I usually wake up feeling thirsty, so the first thing I do after all of the normal wake-up activities is get a nice drink of H2O. 2.) Move my body. I love to wake my body up ... [Read More]

Memorial Day Weekend Snapshots
Hi friends! I hope that all of you had a great weekend. To all of my American readers, I hope that had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend, and in the midst of your wonderful weekend, that you took the time to honor and remember all of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. In honor of the holiday, I wanted to share a link for a memorial fund for a Marine Corps family. Captain Nannen died in a plane crash in March, and the fund is to raise money for his wife and four young children. Feel free to check it out here to find out more. (source) Weekend Recap I kicked off my weekend around lots of Marines, as my hubby and I went to a reunion for the first squadron my Marine was in. We all met up for a Padres game in downtown San Diego and hung out at a bar afterwards. It ... [Read More]
Weekend Recap: Easter Winery Picnicking
Hi everyone! I hope that your week is off to a great start. Today I'm sharing my favorite eats & activities from my three-day Easter weekend! I kicked off my weekend Thursday evening with a hiking workout with this little lady... ...followed by some at-home yoga. It was perfect weather that fortunately continued throughout the weekend. By the way, I'm sporting a t-shirt sent to me by My Social Canvas -- a really neat design company based in NYC that's dedicated to giving back to various causes in the community. I received the shirt as I was about to go hiking, promptly put it on, loved it and just kept it on. Got to love comfy and cute clothes! On Saturday morning, I was up and out early for a date with Gina in Los Gatos. We bought a Groupon a few months ago for a hiking ... [Read More]
Gear Review: Fitbit Flex
Hi there! Hope that you're having a fabulous weekend. Happy Easter to all of those who celebrate it! Today I have a healthy living gadget review for you on the Fitbit Flex! If you're a longtime Foodie Loves Fitness reader, you may remember that I used to have a Fitbit Ultra, which I adored and constantly used (I did a review on it in 2012 here). I used to clip it onto my pants at the waist, which never really was a problem...well, until about a year ago when I went for a motorcycle ride with my hubby, got home, and realized my Fitbit had somehow flung off of me during our ride (whomp, whomp). It was obviously never to be seen again, and while I loved using the tracker, I just didn't feel like buying a new one. Fast forward to last Christmas. My father-in-law and I had talked ... Random Weekend Ramblings
Hello friends! Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. I'm in a random kind of mood, so I'm going to share some rambling thoughts and recent happenings in my life with you tonight. Sound good? Let's get started! I've been meaning to mention this, but recently I became a FitFluential Ambassador! For anyone not familiar with FitFluential, it's an awesome community of influential fitness enthusiasts, and was designed to connect health and wellness brands with their ideal target market through customized marketing campaigns. I applied to be a brand ambassador for them not long after I began blogging and wasn't accepted, and last year I decided to apply again. Second time's a charm! :) I've been a juicing maniac lately. Between putting my juicer to work at home and picking up ... [Read More]
My Favorite Foods to Pack for Trips
Hi there! Hope that you all are having a fabulous weekend. Mine is going very good so far. I leave for Las Vegas in the morning for a work trip, so here I am, yet again procrastinating packing and instead blogging....not surprising given that I was doing the exactly same thing about 10 days ago before my last trip! Speaking of traveling, today I want to talk about packing food for trips. Traveling can be so unpredictable. Maybe you'll have healthy food options available, sometimes you don't. Sometimes you'll be in a rush, while other times your grumbling belly causes you to buy overpriced crappy food at the airport while waiting for your delayed flight to get moving. And since I'm paranoid about going hungry without any good options around (I blame this on my mother, who always has ... [Read More]
