Hi friends! Last week I shared details of the DietBet game that I'm currently participating in and did a week 1 recap, so today I'm chatting about week 2. You can check out my first post here, but the idea is that I bet a few bucks that I could lose 4% of my body weight in a month in a game with 2,101 other people. Week 2 Recap Workout-wise, in contrast to my recent weeks of trying out lots of fitness studios in my area, last week was full of mostly at-home exercise, including FitnessGlo HIIT workouts and some Jillian Michaels strength & cardio DVDs. I also went on a nice long hike with pup and had my first swimming session of the year last weekend. Diet-wise, I did pretty well. As I mentioned in my week 1 recap, all I'm really changing is my portion sizes (a ... [Read More]

DietBet Week 1 Recap + Letting Go of the All-or-Nothing Healthy Living Mentality
Hi friends! My post title makes this pretty obvious, but I'm currently participating in a DietBet game. I figure that springtime is the perfect time to shed a couple of pounds and tone up. Each week for the next month I'll be doing a recap of my weekly progress, as well as discussing an important healthy living theme. So what is DietBet? DietBet is a game that emphasizes online community in helping people to lose weight. I'm participating in Jen Widerstrom's Summer Shake Down - whose The Biggest Loser trainer - which currently has 2,128 players and a pot of $63,840! For this game, all participants bet $30 on themselves that they can lose 4% of their body weight in a month. Everyone that achieves that goal wins the game and gets to split the pot evenly (after an admin ... [Read More]
7 Healthy Snacks I’m Loving Lately
While some people feel best eating three square meals a day, I'm much more of a small-meals-and-snacks kinda girl. Typically eating something every three or four hours means that I usually have healthy on-the-go munchies in my purse and car, as well a number of favorite healthy quick snacks in mind. Here are some of my current top snack picks: [apple with nut butter & cinnamon] I've declared my love for apples before, and lately one of snacks I'm loving the most is an apple sliced with some peanut/almond/cashew butter and sprinkled with cinnamon. It's a nice mix of healthy carbs, fat and protein, and nut butter has a way of keeping me from being starving a few hours later. [Blue Diamond honey roasted cinnamon & honey dijon almonds] While I've been a fan of Blue ... [Read More]
Ditching My Fitbit, Keeping My Active Lifestyle
Around a month ago, I kept noticing something missing from my wrist that's usually there.... My Fitbit Flex! Unlike in the past when I've unintentionally lost my activity trackers, this time it was on purpose. I had been feeling the urge to stop wearing my activity tracker, but I had worn one pretty consistently for so long, that it almost felt weird to consider not using one anymore. It was almost this little fear inside of me that thought that if I didn't track my movement, I somehow wouldn't move as much - that not wearing a Fitbit would make me a less active person. But then I realized that that notion was total crap. Who am I kidding? I lead a super active lifestyle. I don't need a Fitbit to tell me that. I usually workout 6 days a week, and most of the time I do both a ... [Read More]
Healthy Foods I Eat (Almost) Daily
Being the food lover that I am, I get excited to try new recipes that sound delicious to me, experiment in the kitchen or dine out at a new eatery. While this blog perhaps should have been named something to do with being a picky foodie due to my propensity to eat mostly high-quality, healthy foods and never eat anything that once had a mother, I am most definitely a girl who loves to eat good food. Just saying! ;-) Although I like to get creative with my meals and try new foods and dishes, I definitely also have some favorite foods and go-to meals that I eat nearly every day. These are foods that I keep in my house all the time and feel like my kitchen is incomplete without. I thought I'd share the list with you guys, so here we go! An apple a day keeps the doctor ... My February Yoga Practice: Three Poses I’m Working On
Happy Friday!! Are you feeling excited for the weekend? You could say that I'm a bit overly excited because my hubby and I are going on a weekend getaway! We're taking a road trip up to the Santa Barbara Wine Country area, and I've been looking forward to it all week long. Have I ever mentioned that I love wine country?! ....oh, probably only about 2,700 times! I'm sure I'll be sharing all of the details of my weekend with you guys later, but for today, let's get a little zen & talk about yoga. February has flown by in what feels like the blink of an eye, but my month has had no shortage of yoga practice! ... [Read More]
