Hi there! Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. My mother-in-law has been in town visiting from Jersey, so my weekend was full of showing her a good time in SoCal. More on that later, but today, I'm recapping my third day of the IDEA World Fitness Conference! (Yoga posing in front of the convention center, of course.) My Saturday morning began bright and early with a 4:45 AM wake-up call to get ready for a.... ... [Read More]

The Highlight of 2014 IDEA World’s Blogfest: Jillian Michaels! {Day 2 Recap}
Happy Hump Day everyone! This week is going by fast for me, partly because I've been trying to catch up on work and rest the past few days. I was beat after having a busy schedule, so much fun, and little sleep while at IDEA World! Speaking of which, today I'm recapping day two of the convention. Let's get to it! My Friday began with a 7 AM bootcamp workout with Caroline and Moe, who are both fitness instructors in Boston. I met both of these women the first day of Blogfest, and immediately thought that they both were super cool. Caroline and I already had been following each other on Twitter, and I recognized her from social media. This seemed to be a theme at IDEA World, which made it even more fun because you're meeting people you already virtually "know." The ladies led the ... [Read More]
The 2014 IDEA World Fitness Convention: My First Time Doing PiYo {Day 1 Recap}
Hi friends! Hope that you all had a fabulous weekend. It has been quite a whirlwind for me the last bunch of days attending the IDEA World Fitness Convention, which included 12,000 people from over 60 countries! Within IDEA World was Blogfest, a 2-day event specifically for healthy living bloggers. It was hosted by Fit Approach, a company that I'm at ambassador for, along with a lot of great people. Let me tell you, I'm just about to burst from experiencing so much awesomeness at my first ever blogging conference! Let's dive right into the highlights for me of day 1 of the conference... The first morning started bright and early with a yoga session led by San Francisco yoga instructor Stephanie Ring. It was a nice way to begin the conference by stretching and sweating! A shot of the ... [Read More]
My First Yoga Sculpt Experience
Hi friends! A couple of weeks ago I talked about heated workouts, and I shared with you all that I'm not the biggest fan of them due to me being a baby about super warm rooms. Well, after publishing that post, I wound up using the last of my 5-class pass at that gym to try out one more heated workout: yoga sculpt! (source) I really only wound up doing the class because I really wanted to try yoga sculpt, and the gym only offers the class in heated rooms... so I found myself back in a sauna-like room working out once more! I discovered 2 things from taking the class: 1.) Yoga sculpt is fabulous, and 2.) I don't mind heated rooms if they're under a certain temperature. The instructor had the room at 85 degrees with 65 percent humidity, and I actually didn't feel like I was going ... [Read More]
My New Favorite Hiking Spot: Elfin Forest
Meet my new favorite place to go hiking: When I moved back to San Diego County a few months ago, it was funny because although I was back in a general area that I had lived in before, I'm 45 minutes north from where I had lived prior. It has been like learning the ins and outs of a whole new place, although the area is familiar. One of the first things I started searching for in my new area was new favorite hiking spots. After all, hiking is one of my favorite things to do. It's not only a way that I get exercise and exercise my dog, it's also a meditative practice for me. It's a way that I process things and clear my head. Often, I start off a hike with a dilemma or just something that I'm contemplating, and by the time I get back in my car, I've resolved it. Escondido's Elfin ... [Read More]
My First TRX Suspension Training Experience
Recently I mentioned using a Groupon to try out different classes at a fitness studio near me called Fortis Fitness and Strength Training. My 5-class deal is up, and do you think that I did the same class twice? No way my friends, I like to keep things interesting! I had a lot of fun participating in a kickboxing, spin, heated barre, yoga sculpt (more on that to come) and TRX class. And today I thought it'd be fun to share my experience with my first TRX suspension training class. TRX (the acronym is for Total Body Resistance Exercise) classes center around the use of a suspension trainer, where you do a variety of exercises using the TRX bands, leveraging gravity and your body weight to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. A little tidbit that I didn't ... [Read More]
