Happy, happy Friday! As usual, I'm looking forward to the weekend. Then next week I have a 2-day work week, and then I'm heading down to San Diego to spend some time there and celebrate Thanksgiving. I'm excited! Onto workouts... You may have noticed that when I talk about the workouts I've done in a week, I often mention rowing. It's a form of exercise that I started doing a lot of earlier this year. I find it to be really efficient and an awesome form of cardio, and I actually talked about some of the benefits of rowing in this Girls Gone Sporty article. While I'll sometimes do intervals of rowing/resting, I've recently gotten really into incorporating rowing into circuit workouts that last 45-60 minutes. A few things to note: This workout takes about 45 minutes. I recommend doing some active ... [Read More]
WOD: A Triceps & Chest Circuit Routine
Happy June and Friday! According to my calendar, today is Go Barefoot Day. Apparently it's also National Doughnut Day. I'm celebrating the former by walking around barefoot, though I pretty much always do that... I'm excited that it's June 1st for a couple of reasons: The start of June signifies the real downhill slope of my marine's deployment, as he supposedly will be coming home in July (the key word here being supposedly...Anyone involved in the military knows that if there's one thing for certain, it's that plans are constantly changing, but we'll pretend that it's totally happening according to schedule unless we're told otherwise ;-) ). The thought of him being home makes me ridiculously happy. The other awesome thing about June beginning is that I'll be heading back ... [Read More]
A Workout to Do Anywhere
Life can be full of excuses, especially when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes it's difficult to find the time and energy to work out or the willpower to eat well. We all know people who are constantly making excuses for themselves when it comes to these things. The fact of the matter is that we're only human, and life can get hectic. But it's not about being perfect, always eating nutritiously, and never missing a workout or drinking one too many cocktails. What it is about is consistently making your health a priority. Nobody said it's easy, but I happen to believe it's worth the effort. Don't be one of those people who is always justifying their unhealthy behaviors. Stop making excuses, and just start doing! Between work, the normal craziness of my day, and a dinner ... [Read More]
