Visiting California’s Central Coast with children? Make sure to check out these great family-friendly wineries in Paso Robles!
After my nomad family and I made our way south down the east coast and lived in several cities heading west to San Diego, we moved about five hours north to the lovely wine country area of Paso Robles.
I had been to Paso Robles several times before, and it’s one of my favorite California road trip spots for a variety of reasons: The wine is amazing, and I find that the atmosphere tends to be more laidback than other California wine country regions. It features beautiful California country scenery and small town vibes, while also having a lot of restaurants, shopping, a cute downtown, hot springs, hiking trails… and more!
However, this was my first time visiting Paso Robles as a mom with my child in tow. We were on the hunt for family-friendly wineries in Paso Robles, and during my five weeks there, we visited as many of their 250 wineries as possible that seemed to be welcoming towards families.
We had an absolute blast, and today I wanted to share my favorite family-friendly wineries in Paso Robles. Cheers!
Awesome Family-Friendly Wineries in Paso Robles
Sculpterra
Hands down, Sculpterra is my favorite family-friendly winery in Paso. The winery grounds are beautiful and guests can do their tastings outside – which was perfect for my nature loving daughter, who played in the grass while we tasted.
There’s an impressive sculpture garden to walk around and check out. Sculpterra also has a bocce ball court and game area, along with expansive picnicking options. And the wine is fantastic!
One of my favorite things to do on a nice day in Paso is to head to Sculpterra to buy a bottle, bring a picnic with all of my favorite foods, and enjoy the afternoon there with my family.
Peachy Canyon
Set in a historic schoolhouse, Peachy Canyon is a charming Zinfandel-focused winery located in the heart of Paso wine country. The winery has a spacious outdoor area with picnic tables for hanging out and tasting. Plus, they offer a grape juice tasting for little ones, which my daughter loved. Peachy Canyon provides a relaxed atmosphere and is also (newly) dog friendly.
The winery has been ranked in the top 100 wines in the world by Wine Spectator, and many of its wines have been ranked with 90-point-plus scores.
Bianchi Winery
Bianchi is another family-friendly winery that we enjoyed in Paso Robles. The winery has an impressive koi fish pond with some of the biggest koi that I’ve ever seen. The pond alone makes it great for kiddos! Bianchi has a good amount of outdoor seating and encourages guests to bring picnics, which is great for families. The winery offers bocce ball as well.
Bianchi’s estate varietals include cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel and merlot. Outside of its estate wines, Bianchi offers pinot noir, pinot grigio, sparkling, rose, port and more.
Tobin James Cellars
While Tobin James is the most bar-like winery in the area that I’ve visited, I think that its lively, relaxed atmosphere makes it fun to bring children to. The staff is always super welcoming when I’ve visited. Tobin also offers a grape juice tasting for those under 21. Plus, the bar nooks are kind of perfect for small children to hang out underneath the bar while us parents are tasting! The last time we were there, we managed to have my daughter play with her toys in the nook while we sipped on Tobin James’ wines.
Tobin James also has an outdoor grotto and grass areas to hang out, and it’s a pet-friendly winery. The winery has quite a robust wine club. If I lived in the area, I would absolutely become a wine member and pop in often for complimentary tastings with my family.
