Are you more of a waffle or pancake person?
I tend to go for pancakes – I make my oatmeal protein pancakes at least once a week – but every now and then I get in the mood for waffles.
Today’s chocolate banana oat waffle recipe was born out of my latest waffle craving. I didn’t have all of the ingredients on hand to make other waffle recipes that I’ve been wanting to make, so I came up with these healthy waffles instead.
This breakfast/brunch beauty is pretty simple to whip up, and it features basic ingredients that I always have on hand.
The base of the waffles are made with oat flour, fresh banana and almond milk. Maple syrup and hemp hearts are thrown into the mix as well, and then we’ve got cocoa powder and chopped chocolate to give the waffles its chocolatey dessert feel.
All you need to do is mash the banana, then add in the rest of the ingredients and mix it all up. Pour the batter into the waffle maker, cook em until they’re lightly browned, and then you’ve got yourself a fancy breakfast or brunch.

I’m definitely more of a waffle person myself, although I do admit that pancakes are a bit easier. (Mainly because you have to clean the waffle iron, and there’s just no good way to do that!) I love the chocolate banana twist here. These would be a great Saturday morning brunch!
