I'm just going to come right out and say it: I'm not a fan of making huge resolutions at the beginning of a new year. To me, anytime is a good time to make positive changes in your life, and it being a new calendar year gives people this sort of unrealistic idea that they can be totally different moving forward. The idea of New Year's resolutions is kind of gimmicky and truth be told, most people give up their dedication to their big resolutions before the end of January. I think that setting an intention to do better in whatever way is great, but most people make too drastic of a change right off the bat, and then they inevitably disappoint themselves when they give in and give up. However, what I do really enjoy is setting goals at the start of a new year. To me, goals are a ... [Read More]

Peppermint Matcha Hot Chocolate {vegan}
Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it! I hope that you're having a wonderful end to your year. I'm popping in to share an easy recipe that's perfect for wintertime - one that I've made at least half a dozen times in the past few months. Matcha green tea powder is packed with antioxidants, but it can be too green tasting for some people. Hell, I like matcha and I don't even like it strong! But what I love about this recipe is that it pairs matcha with peppermint extract, and the two blend so well together. Peppermint extract is strong and it kind of mellows out the matcha. In the end, what you'll taste is a chocolatey, pepperminty drink with a hint of matcha that's perfect for pepping you up on chilly days. Since I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk for this recipe, it's also a ... [Read More]
Iron-Rich Gingerbread Oatmeal Bars {vegan}
These healthy gingerbread bars feature iron-rich ingredients like molasses, oats, hemp hearts and cashew butter. They're perfect for breakfast or a snack! Growing up, one of the traditions in my house was decorating gingerbread houses every holiday season. I didn't even like the taste of gingerbread and mostly lived for sneaking a taste of the icing or a bite of the candy that I was decorating the house with. But I loved the creativity of it, and it was something fun that we did with my mom every Christmas. These days, my mom is continuing the tradition onto the next generation, as she now decorates gingerbread houses with my nephews this time of year. As an adult, the taste of gingerbread is something that has started to grow on me. It's still not my favorite thing ever, but as my ... [Read More]
Superfood Dark Chocolate Cups {vegan + gf}
Like most Americans, growing up, I always equated the holiday season to it being freezing outside. Oh the weather outside is frightful... Jack Frost nipping at your nose... Baby it's cold outside... ...We could go on & on with all of the frigid weather references in holiday song lyrics. But then when I moved from the northeast to Southern California, Christmastime felt different to me because it was still pretty lovely outside. The summertime vacationers were gone and it was no longer bikini weather, but the sun still shines most wintertime days in San Diego, and I often would throw on a sweatshirt and head to the beach to walk my dog or read a book with my feet in the sand. And while I absolutely love (and am missing) San Diego weather, Christmastime never ... [Read More]
Get Your Heart Pumping with This HIIT Holiday Workout
Disclaimer: The following post is sponsored by adidas. As always, all opinions expressed are genuinely my own. Happy December! This month means lots of holiday fun, but between holiday parties, travel, and shopping for gifts, it tends to also equate to our schedules getting a bit more hectic. With all of the holiday excitement taking over, it's easy to get thrown out of whack with your healthy living routine. But there's no need to panic! Eating some extra treats and having less time to exercise can be challenging for your waistline, but I truly believe it's all about balance and moderation. One of the 10 ways I avoid weight gain during the holiday season is to treat my workouts like a meeting I can’t miss. I typically look ahead to see when I'm able to fit in workouts ... [Read More]
