Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, we're in full swing in the 2018 holiday season, and I'm definitely enjoying it! It feels like I've been Christmas shopping for my loved ones nonstop the past couple of days, and when my hubby and I got home after a Thanksgiving weekend in Jersey full of family time, we nabbed a Christmas tree and decorated our place. Christmas is by far my favorite holiday, and I love soaking it all up. We have plans to see John Legend on his Christmas tour in NYC next week, and I'm hoping to see the Rockefeller tree then too. I'd also like to go ice skating sometime soon. For the last couple of years I've shared holiday gift guides with you, and this year I thought I'd do a bit of a different holiday gift guide. Today I'm sharing not just gift ... [Read More]

5 Tips for Road Tripping with a Dog
"Life is short and the world is wide." I adore traveling, and I'm obsessed with my dog.... but rarely do I combine the two. Typically when I travel, my pup goes off to play at the "pet resort" with her friends. Considering my dog gets anxious in new environments and isn't great in the car, I find that it's usually easier to leave her at her normal kennel spot (and I've got the pet resort bills to prove that I do this often!). However, when my husband and I moved 3,000 miles from California to the northeast in August/September, we elected to send all of our stuff in a pod and drive my car cross-country - our pup in tow. I was a bit nervous for our sanity with having our dog in the car with us for 45 hours, but we survived! Harley also became a much better passenger during the ... [Read More]
Pumpkin Apple Cider Bread {dairy free with gf option}
It seems like every year when autumn hits, I get a serious baking itch and I start baking like crazy. Anyone else do the same thing? I especially get into the quintessential fall baking ingredients - including pumpkin, apple, cinnamon and nutmeg. I feel like I can't get enough! I mean, is there anything that smells better than all of those delicious flavors baking in the kitchen? Playing around in the kitchen with my favorite sweet fall ingredients is precisely how this recipe was born. I'm not normally a juice drinker, but I bought apple cider a few times this season after trying some at a local orchard and remembering that apple cider is in fact delicious. This recipe puts a twist on pumpkin bread by including apple cider and diced apple in the batter. I also made ... [Read More]
Autumn Fun in New England {Life Update}
Hi friends! It's been two months since I arrived in the northeast since relocating from the San Diego area, so I thought I'd share a bit of what I've been up to with you guys for a change. When we first got to New York, to say that life was stressful is an understatement. I'm usually pretty good with some unpredictability, but it was as if too much chaos was happening at once: I was temporarily staying at a weird Airbnb place living out of a suitcase, trying to figure out my work situation and where to live next, dealing with house selling woes, and adjusting to the change of scenery and crazy weather in the northeast. Thankfully, we've gotten some things settled since then! Almost a month ago, we moved to Connecticut, got all of our stuff unpacked, and took care of some new ... [Read More]
