Hi friends! I just got back from Kauai, where I had an amazing getaway with my husband. We hiked, zip lined in the tropical forest, relaxed on the beach, went swimming in the ocean, ate good food, enjoyed some drinks, and explored the beautiful island together. I didn't want to leave, though we really packed a lot in in the short time we were there. I will be sharing more about my trip soon, but today I want to talk about another travel topic: my favorite ways to save money on airfare. I travel often and love getting a good deal on flights. In recent years, I feel like I've become pretty good at planning travel (and I really enjoy it!), so I thought I'd share a few of my favorite ways to save money on airfare. Use Hopper to monitor flights. One of my favorite travel ... [Read More]

5 Ways to Spice Up Your Hydration Routine & Drink More Water
Often when we talk about health, we focus on diet and exercise, but we all know that there are a lot of other factors that go into us feeling our best. Some other things that I think are super important are keeping stress levels at bay, getting enough sleep and proper hydration. Our bodies depend on water to survive and thrive. Every cell, tissue, and organ that you and I have needs water to work properly. Being properly hydrated helps to boost brainpower and mood, prevent headaches, improve workout performance, aid with weight loss, and even prevent disease. The standard recommended amount is 8 8-oz glasses of water a day, but everyone is different. I know that I drink more than that, as I'm constantly thirsty and continuously sipping on water throughout the day! Summer is here ... [Read More]
Easy Berry Breakfast Tacos {Red, White & Blue Themed}
Hi friends! The official first day of summer is coming up in just a few days, and it certainly feels like it here in San Diego. The beaches are packed, traffic seems crazier than usual, and all of a sudden the sun is super strong - SPF 50 for this girl, and I still keep getting more sun than I want to! Does it feel like summer where you are yet? I'm excited this week because I'm on a vacation countdown. In just a couple days my husband and I are heading to Hawaii for a getaway! We will be staying on Kauai, and I am really looking forward to doing lots of fun outdoor activities on what looks like a magical island. After we get back, I'm heading to IDEA World Convention + Blogfest, which takes place this year in downtown San Diego. I've gone to the fitness conference a bunch of years now, ... [Read More]
5 Ways to Simplify Your Healthy Routine + Daily Harvest Review
Everyone that knows me knows that I'm passionate about healthy living. But just like everyone else, sometimes my life gets hectic, so to help me stick with my healthy habits, I implement some go-to timesaving techniques. Today I'm sharing some of the ways that I make my healthy routine more efficient - particularly when life gets a little cray cray! These tips make healthy eating and working out a bit easier, and help to set me up for success when I've got a lot going on elsewhere. 1.) Make a big portion of grains + snacks for the week. I'll be honest, I don't do meal prepping in the convention way that most people think of for a couple of reasons: a.) Pre-planning entire days of meals isn't my thing and I kind of dread the thought of it, b.) I eat depending on what I'm in the ... [Read More]
20 Droolworthy Avocado Recipes
If I had to name just one type of produce that I've become obsessed with in adulthood, it's probably avocado. When I moved to California, I quickly found out that avocado is readily available year-round here. We have a steady supply of avocados coming in from Mexico all the time, and then in spring and summer, local California growers offer an abundance of avocados everywhere from regular food stores to local farmers markets and little stands at the most random places on the side of the road. Growing up, I don't remember there being avocado around in my kitchen really at all, and my mom told me a couple of years ago that she had always shied away from them because she heard they were fattening. So, I convinced her that avocados are awesome, delicious, and not all that caloric if ... [Read More]

With all of the hype surrounding keto and paleo diets, I'd just like to put it out there that my plans to go on a low-carb diet are....nonexistent! Truth be told, I love carbs & think I'd be super unhappy on a diet that cuts most of them out and makes rules on which healthy ones I can and can't eat. Carbs provide our bodies with energy to live active lifestyles, keep our minds sharp and boost our moods. Fruits, veggies, beans, and whole grains are a big part of my diet.
