"Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier." — Colin Powell I had another post planned for today, but I got to thinking about positivity this week and decided that I want to chat about this today instead! Positivity is a topic that I bring up here and there on the blog, but really, it's something that I try to be conscious of and embody every single day. To me, it's at the crux of having a healthy mindset, which translates to a truly happier, healthier life. I believe in the Law of Attraction, therefore I want to bring positivity into my headspace and life as much as possible. But people seem to think that being an optimist means you ignore anything negative or pretend that crappy things aren't happening. I don't believe that this denial type of attitude is healthy for people ... [Read More]

Blogfest 2017 Recap + Trying STRONG by Zumba {IDEA World ’17 Recap #1}
Hello friends! Long time no talk. I'm back in California after a trip to Vegas last week to attend IDEA World Convention - the place to be for all things fitness! This was my fourth year attending IDEA World, and each time it has been such an inspiring place to be. This year I also attended a wonderful conference within the IDEA World Convention, called Blogfest. It's hosted by my friends over at Fit Approach, who I've enjoyed partnering with over the years for fun blogger collaborations, Instagram challenges and more. Blogfest brings together health & wellness bloggers from all over the country, and it's a lot of fun! Not only does Blogfest and IDEA World offer the chance to learn in the sessions and try new workouts, it also gives me the opportunity to connect with ... [Read More]
8 Interesting Stats from New Documentary What The Health
Being a healthy living blogger, health coach, health writer, and overall health nut, it shouldn't come as a shock to you that I enjoy watching documentaries that focus on health. The most recent documentary that was recommended to me by multiple people is a Netflix film called What The Health. Last weekend as my hubby and I watched the documentary, I experienced my usual feelings that creep up on me when I watch films that focus on the current state of American health: sadness, for all of the people out there slowly killing themselves through unhealthy lifestyle choices; anger, that there are such obviously conflicting money trails between big food biz and organizations that are supposed to be working to protect our health; and disgust, for all of the resources and lives that we ... Strawberry Banana Bread Bars [vegan]
Sometimes around this time of the year I get a little overzealous about all of the summertime fruit that's in peak season. I eat a ton of fruit, but I wind up getting excited and buying more fruit than even I can eat before it gets too ripe. Case in point was a few weeks ago, when I found myself driving past a strawberry farm stand while out running errands. I simply had to pop in and buy not one, not two, but three pints of strawberries (it was a buy more kind of deal!)... after I had just nabbed a big bag of cherries and a yuuuugggge container of blueberries, on top of my usual banana and apple purchases. For the next few days, I ate lots of fruit: threw some on top of smoothie bowls, in my cereal, mixed in with yogurt, on its own as a healthy dessert... but I couldn't eat all of the ... [Read More]
Workouts Lately – July ’17 Edition: Switching it Up with Pure Barre, Swimming, CycleBar & More
Somehow it's been a few months since I've talked about my workout routine, but today I'm sharing what my sweat sessions have been like lately! Lately I've had a good mix of at-home workouts, outdoor workouts and studio classes. One studio that I've taken classes at a couple of times over the past month is Pure Barre Del Mar. I had taken a break from barre after a foot injury last year, but when the folks at Pure Barre invited me to try out their studio, I felt like it was a good time to try it out again. I've tried a lot of different barre styles - including Xtend Barre, The Dailey Method, and Bar Method (I compared the three styles awhile back here), but Pure Barre in particular was new to me. I found Pure Barre classes to really work little muscles that generally don't get ... [Read More]
