When it comes to my eating patterns, I'm definitely more of small meals & snacks kinda girl. I like to eat every 3-4 hours, and feel like my body operates best this way. If I eat a big meal, my belly feels heavy and too full, but when I eat smaller meals & snacks throughout the day, I feel great. Because of this, I always have lots of snacks around: in my purse, gym bag, car and obviously my pantry. Having healthy snacks around is the key to me not getting hangry! One of my favorite kind of snacks is energy balls. I like to whip up a batch during the weekend to have on hand throughout the week. But since I get bored easily, I like to switch up my energy bite combos & am constantly coming up with new kinds. My latest energy ball creation are these Blueberry Cashew ... [Read More]

Three Sisters Waterfall Hike {2017 Edition} + An Afternoon of Wine in Temecula
Hi friends! Hope that your week is off to a nice start! Did you have Monday off of work for Presidents Day? I had off from my publicist job, and actually didn't do work for any of my jobs whatsoever. I think I only answered one email the entire day, which was nice! My long weekend was a great one, so today I'm rewinding it back a few days. On Saturday while my hubby studied for an MBA exam all day, I took care of a lot of freelance & blogging stuff. I also ran a couple of errands, including a trip to Michaels to pick up a frame for a new addition to my travel-themed workout room. The artist of this San Diego Modern Map Art was nice enough to send me a print, and I think it goes perfectly in my workout room. The room is full of canvas art and memorabilia of my travels, and ... Get Out of Your Comfort Zone By Feeling the Fear & Doing it Anyway
Hi friends! How has your week been? It has been quite a busy one for me. Lots of good stuff happening, including my participation in a workshop to get certified to teach Yoga Sculpt! If you've read any of my monthly workout recaps recently, you may have noticed that I've been going to Yoga Sculpt classes. I love the mix of cardio, weight training and bodyweight exercises with a bit of Om sprinkled in. It's a little bit of yoga, and a lot of sweating and sculpting. Out of the many kinds of classes that I've taken, the one I'd probably want to teach the most is Yoga Sculpt, so when the opportunity came up for me to take a certification class, I went with my heart and jumped on it. While I'm obviously a longtime fitness lover and have gotten to do a lot of cool ... [Read More]
Healthy Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cinnamon Cookies {vegan}
Does anyone else just all of a sudden get in the mood for baking sometimes? The measuring and mixing, pouring and stirring, baking and cooling. The smells of something delicious coming together and the anticipation of taste testing. It's therapeutic to me. Last week as I was jotting down a bunch of things to nab at the food store and planning out what healthy snacks I'd make this week, I got bitten by the baking bug. And I didn't feel like just following a recipe, I was in the mood for experimenting and getting creative. Today's recipe is a result of that baking bug. These cookies center around a few of my favorite things: the combination of chocolate + peanut butter & cinnamon. Cinnamon is without a doubt my favorite spice. I'm constantly sprinkling some on my fruit, in my smoothies, ... [Read More]
Appreciating Family Time in San Diego {Weekend Recap}
Hi there! I haven't done a fun little weekend recap in awhile, and since I had a great weekend a couple days back, it seems like a good idea to share what I was up to with you guys. After having a great day of meetings and health coaching sessions on Friday, I kicked off my weekend with a long walk at the park with my pup, then made some veggie orzo soup (my favorite lately!) to enjoy with my hubby. It was the kind of day that feels productive and busy, yet fun at the same time. After taking care of some work and cleaning my entire house on Saturday, the family-filled part of my weekend began! My cousin Michelle, who lives a few hours north in Long Beach, drove down to spend the night at my house. I made homemade pizza and farro Greek salad, and we drank wine, ... [Read More]
5 Healthy Valentine’s Day Desserts [All Dairy Free!]
Valentine's Day is just around the corner, so today we're chatting about healthy dessert recipes! My hubby and I don't get too crazy for Valentine's Day. We'll sometimes go on an adventurous date, like going kayaking in La Jolla as we did last year, or sometimes we'll just have a nice dinner at home. To me, Valentine's Day just serves as a reminder of what's important in life. It should just be about spending time with the people you love - whether that be a spouse, your kids, your girlfriends, or even just dating yourself. I'm not sure what we'll be doing for V-Day this year yet, but if there's one thing's that for sure, it's that I'll be baking something fun surrounding the day of love...because I take advantage of any excuse to bake! Baking is definitely a ... [Read More]
