It’s interesting how sometimes we fall in and out of habits.
For a few years, I was using my juicer all the time. Making a morning green juice became something that I did several days a week. After all, I do love getting in a hefty dose of fruits & veggies first thing in the day to power me through the morning!
But somewhere along the line last year, I stopped using my juicer at home. I was still drinking green juice, I was just buying it out instead of preparing it myself.
I blame having to clean the juicer on my juice making laziness. I mean, let’s be honest, that thing is kind of a pain to clean!
Even so, I’ve decided to bring my at-home juicing habit back in 2017. I got back into my Jack LaLanne Power Juicer groove – which I swiped from my parents’ garage after it sat there unused for years and shipped it all the way across the country for me to use, starting my juice making craze – with today’s juice recipe: the Morning Sunshine Juice.
This juice combines a couple of winter produce favorites. We’ve got clementines, carrots, and radishes – with some ginger root added into the mix because I dig ginger in fresh juice. A little ginger gives juice a big zing!
Let’s talk about some of the benefits of this juice:
- High in Vitamin C and potassium and believed to help maintain healthy bones and aid in digestion, clementines are bite-sized nutritional powerhouses.
- Carrots and clementines contain beta-carotene – a form of Vitamin A that is great for your skin, hair and eye health.
- Carrots are a root veggie high in antioxidants. They’re rich in a whole slew of things, including Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, folate, potassium, iron, copper, and manganese.
- Radishes are also high in folate and potassium, and have antibacterial and detoxifying properties.
- With powerful anti-inflammatory effects, ginger is used in alternate medicine to help cure a variety of sicknesses – including nausea, the flu, the common cold and digestion issues.
The little glass packs a powerful health punch!
In fact, this juice contains 350 mg of Vitamin A (which is over 3x the recommended daily amount!) and 159 mg of Vitamin C (about 100 mg is recommended daily). Not too shabby!

Haha! The beginning of this post gave me a good chuckle. 🙂
I used to want a juicer so bad but then I realized that the same thing would probably happen. I’d never want to use it because it’s a pain to clean, lol. But for this juice, I would make an exception. It’s so bright and I can imagine the flavors are super refreshing. Love!

Yea, it’s a little bit worse than the food processor to clean…. which I use nearly every day, so the cleaning part never stops me! Ha.

I have somehow never tried juicing, maybe it’s because I can’t get enough of my morning smoothies. I love all the health befits of this though!

I love smoothies too, at any time of the day really! 🙂

Yes, I love juicing! I feel so amazing when I juice consistently. I did fall off the wagon after my juicer broke after years of use. I started having health issues and decided I needed to get back at it. I bought an Omega and really love it. Quiet, easy clean up. I have a juice first thing in the morning and one or two again during the day. For me it’s worth the commitment and the benefits are great.
