Well, it’s official… I’m obsessed with watermelon strawberry smoothies again.
I’ve made it three times in the last week, and it’s seriously so refreshing! Can’t stop, won’t stop my friends.
Besides slurping watermelon smoothies, here are some other favorite summertime things that I did this weekend:
I blew up a raft and floated around in my pool. This is actually the very first time I’ve gone in the pool this year! We were having pool issues for a few months that finally got resolved a few weeks ago – just in time for the summer heat to arrive. Having a pool definitely requires some maintenance, and I love when I get a chance to actually enjoy it. It felt lovely to soak up the sunshine from my pool after a long hiatus.
On that note, I’m definitely going to bring back my “work from the pool” afternoons at least one day a week moving forward so that I can take advantage of owning a pool more often!
Smoothie bowl eating. I definitely eat smoothies year round, but my habit has been kicked into overdrive and I’ve been making them almost every day. Last weekend I made this cherry banana protein smoothie bowl. And speaking of cherries…
…bring on the fresh in-season sweet cherries! I nabbed my first bag of cherries last week and have been munching on them ever since.
Hit the trails. Since it was too hot inland to hike any major trails with my pup, we just headed to our favorite nearby park – Lake Calavera – for an hourlong outdoor exercise session.
Is there anything more summery than sipping wine on the beach? My hubby and I had a sunset dinner picnic date night, and it was nice & relaxing!
I also spent some time at the beach on Friday afternoon doing health coaching work and reading (and drinking a watermelon smoothie, naturally). In my opinion, there’s no better work environment than listening to the waves crash with your feet in the sand!
Side note: Anyone ever read the book pictured, The One & Only? I’m getting very into it, as I do with all Emily Giffin reads!
Sweat it out. Okay, so working out is a year-round activity for me, but I had to include this because it was my best workout of the weekend! After working at the beach, I met up with Laura for a spinning workout in La Jolla at SparkCycle. The music during class was awesome, and I was completely drenched in sweat at the end. The class benefitted the Orlando Pulse victims, and I was happy to be a part of something positive in light of such a tragedy.
Gardening. Okay, so I don’t necessarily enjoying the actual gardening work, but I certainly love seeing the fruits (and veggies and herbs!) of my labor. Above is some of what I picked over the weekend: tomato, pepper, mint and basil.
My hubby and I also had a major trimming/pulling out gardening session. I admit that sometimes I don’t pay enough attention to trimming things, and my herb garden had gotten completely wild and out of control. A crazy super weed had taken over the herbs, and since it was actually part of the herb roots, we wound up just pulling everything up. Check it out:
Whoa right? It was a bit of a bummer, but I planted new basil, oregano, parsley and chives, so hopefully they’ll grow quickly this summer (and I made a pledge to myself to be more attentive with trimming!).
You may be able to tell from my weekend summertime activities that I’m an outdoorsy person! 🙂
Tell me… What summery things did you do last weekend? Any current seasonal food obsessions?

That spin class was so fun! Was your foot ok after? I really want to go back and do more. It’s a nice way to change up my cardio routine. And the instructor was fabulous. 😉
You weren’t kidding about the super weed! Holy mother.

Woah…that weed! Bummer for sure. I’m loving the pool float, too. We just got back from visiting my Mom in Nashville, and she has a pool. Needless to say we spent quite a good bit of time floating around the pool not worrying about a thing. But now we’re back and trying to get up and running again here in New York. Bah. I just want to go back to the pool! 🙂

I am obsessed with anything watermelon right now! I need to try that smoothie! I also need to read that book – I love her work and am looking for something new to read right now! I think it’s a sign 🙂

Work from pool sounds ahhhhhmazing! I kind of did that on Friday. I set up a mini pool for Cooper and then sat and watched him SAHM style. Haha! I love my mom’s fresh herbs she grows in the summer! I would have to say spending time at the beach is definitely my summer go-to activity.

We are a little bit smoothie bowl obsessed at the moment too. It’s so nice to be able to throw all those toppings on and they always look prettier than a smoothie in a glass.
