Smoothies. They’re kind of a never-ending obsession in my household. It’s an almost daily occurrence in my diet to blend up a bunch of goodness into one nutritious, delicious cup.
While my hubby has his standard go-to smoothie (a chocolate peanut butter protein shake), I like to switch it up. However, sometimes in the busyness of life, I feel like I lack smoothie creativity. I’ll get into a routine of making my same few smoothie favorites. Don’t get me wrong, they’re delicious, but I could use some new smoothie ideas sometimes.
And that’s where Green Blender smoothie delivery service comes in. Recently the NYC-based company reached out to see if I’d like to try them out, and I happily agreed to see what they’re all about. When my delivery arrived, I was like a little kid in a toy store excited to see what was inside.
The box contained pre-portioned fruits, veggies, herbs, nuts, spices, and coconut milk for me to make 5 different smoothies (each make 2 servings). Included in the delivery is a recipe sheet for those smoothies, along with info about the smoothies’ benefits and nutritional content.
What I dig about Green Blender is that they make it so easy for their customers. A package arrives weekly with organic, pre-portioned ingredients and vegan recipes. All you have to do is follow the directions. Toss your ingredients in a blender, pulse, and voila! I may love cooking, baking, and food in general, but I’m also super busy… so I can also appreciate the concept of healthy made easy as much as the next person.
I also like that the service makes it easy to get out of a smoothie breakfast/lunch/snack rut. Not only is eating the same meals every single day kind of boring, it can also be detrimental to your health. You’re limiting your body to the same foods with the same vitamins and nutrients, which over time may lead to deficiencies.
With Green Blender, new ingredients and combos are outlined for you – giving you the power of variety through whole foods! My smoothie delivery kit kind of persuaded me into putting greens into my smoothies that I normally don’t include, like swiss chard.
The only downside that I experienced with Green Blender was the ripeness of some of the produce. I understand that this can be somewhat out of the company’s control and more in the hands of their growers, but some of my produce arrived pretty ripe, while other things were not ripe at all. This can be an inconvenience when you want to make one of the smoothie recipes but don’t have all of the ingredients ripe enough.
This happened when I wanted to make a kiwi coconut smoothie. The kiwis were still too hard, while the pineapple I had received was getting overripe, so I wound up subbing the latter for the former.
This also brings me to the point of discussing my problem with just following recipe directions. I’m seemingly unable to follow a recipe to the tee. I suppose it’s a curse of a recipe developer to always be modifying ingredients, eh?
But that’s also the beauty of a smoothie delivery service like Green Blender. You’re given all of the ingredients and suggested recipes, but you can modify things to fit your taste. Hate walnuts? Then leave them out of the smoothie recipe, no biggie.
I like the sound of this Luck of the Eye-rish Smoothie recipe.
All in all, I love the concept of Green Blender & their mission to make healthy eating simple and convenient for people!

I just heard about this and think it is such a great idea! I love smoothies so much! I have tried meal prep delivery services that I have really liked and this is kind of similar concept. Cool!

That’s a fun idea! I love the concept because, like you, I love making different smoothie flavors. I do have a hard time ordering stuff due to the ripeness issue you mentioned. I can’t do CSAs for that reason. Plus, I like grocery shopping. It’s like my hobby. LOL!

I am on a big smoothie kick at the moment and I am having a green smoothie every morning. I have so much more energy because of it!

What a cool idea! I love that this allows you to get some variety into your diet while also having someone else do the thinking for you. But I also like that it also allows you to put your own spin on it. I agree, that is a curse of being a recipe developer! 😉

YUM!! What a great service! Sounds so fun! And I’m SO excited for smoothie season. I really can’t drink smoothies in the late fall/ early winter because they just make me too cold lol (wish I was in Cali with you!!) But as it warms up I’m SO excited to whip out the blender!! Yum! Yay for smoothie love!
xoxo Cailee!
