One of the best parts about being involved in the healthy living world is getting to meet other health pros and bloggers that share my love for leading a balanced, active lifestyle full of yummy, healthy food. It’s always so inspirational and fun chatting with people that share my passions!
Recently I got to meet Liz, who runs Super Sister Fitness with her sister Sara. The two trainer sisters share tons of easy healthy recipes, free workouts and women’s challenges on their blog, and I’ve teamed up with them to share a fun post with you today.
Like me, Liz & Sara teach women that eating healthy doesn’t have to mean restricting or depriving yourself of chocolate. As Sports Nutrition Specialists, they rely on the mentality of “all things in moderation,” but these sisters believe it’s best to choose more natural foods and learn how to make them taste great, as opposed to just buying store-bought candy that’s full of sugar and fake ingredients.
To kick off the month of February, today Liz & Sara are sharing their top 2 healthy dessert recipes for Valentine’s Day: Healthy Chocolate Truffles and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake Pops. If you’ve got a sweet tooth that seems to get in the way of your goals, these recipes are for YOU.
Try making them for VDay and no one will even be able to tell they’re actually healthy!
First up we’ve got their recipe for healthy chocolate truffles:
Healthy Chocolate Truffles
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cacao powder
- 1/2 cup protein powder of choice
- 1/4 cup almond butter
- 2 tbs honey to make a sugar free version, add 2 tbs almond milk and stevia to taste
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- dash of cinnamon
- dash of sea salt
- optional: 1-2 tbs cacao nibs for an extra crunch + shredded unsweetened coconut to coat the outside
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients except cacao nibs in a bowl until a thick dough mixture forms (you want it to be clumpy and dry!).
- Stir in the cacao nibs.
- Roll into 10-12 balls and store in the refrigerator.

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake Pops
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup peanut or almond butter
- 1/3 cup natural vanilla protein powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- stevia to taste
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 tbs coconut oil or unsalted butter
- 10 cake pop sticks
Instructions
- In a microwave safe bowl, heat peanut butter for 30-60 seconds or until very soft and creamy.
- Stir in your vanilla, stevia and salt, and mix well.
- Slowly add in your protein powder until a very thick, dry dough forms.
- Form peanut butter dough into 1" inch balls and then insert one of your cake pop sticks.
- Place cake pops into the freezer for 5-10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan heat coconut oil and dark chocolate over low heat, and stir until melted.
- Remove cake pops from the freezer and place on a piece of parchment paper.
- You can either dip the cake pops into the dark chocolate or spoon the dark chocolate on top of each cake pop.
- Once each cake pop is covered in chocolate, let cool and chocolate harden.
- Store in the refrigerator and enjoy!

Oh my gosh yes!! I want both of these!!!
What do you think I can use instead of protein powder since that is not something I can easily get my hands on?
foodielovesfitness says
Yay! I think that oat flour or almond flour would work well in place of the protein powder.
