Besides my favorite fall things and the holiday season kicking off, another reason why I love autumn is that it’s glorious football season! I was born into a football family with a dad whose a football coach, and I’m a huge fan of the sport. Lately I’ve been loving low-key football Sundays when I spend a bulk of the day at-home watching games and getting little things done around the house. And what goes great with football? Delicious food!
I’ve mentioned it about a million times on here, but I’m a big appetizer person. I love dips, tapas, cheese & fruit plates and hummus. They pair perfectly with football fun, and today I have a recipe to share with you guys for just that.
For this recipe, I took a twist on classic hummus by adding some Blue Diamond Smokehouse Almonds into the mix. I also jazzed it up by adding in some paprika and fresh lemon juice. This hummus isn’t super spicy, it just has a bit of a yummy kick to it.
On top of it being yummy, this hummus is simple to whip up, vegan, gluten free and healthy!
Smoky Almond Hummus
Ingredients
- 1 15- oz can garbanzo beans
- 2 TBSP tahini
- 1/2 cup Blue Diamond Smokehouse Almonds
- 1 garlic clove quartered
- 5 TBSP water plus more as needed
- Juice from 1/2 small lemon
- 1/4 TSP salt
- 1/2 TSP paprika
- 1/8 pepper
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor, including 5 TBSP of water, and pulse until mostly smooth.
- Scrape down the sides of the processor, and add in more water as needed, 1 TBSP at a time, until you achieve the desired consistency.
- Serve with pretzels, crackers, chips, etc. It goes great on sandwiches as an alternative to mayonnaise too!

Almonds in hummus? Why have I never thought of that? It’s like a combination of hummus and nut butter. YES!

Not a football fan, but I love appetizer foods and this sounds perfect!

Well at least you can appreciate football food even if you’re not into the actual sport, right? 🙂

Yum! This looks amazing! Hummus is definitely one of my favorite snack foods. I’m big on dips + chips (or something else salty), so guac is typically my go-to side dish!

I just ate guac yesterday! Love it!
