Hello, hello! Since I'm making sure to hold myself accountable while I'm on the east coast visiting with family and friends, I'm back with a recap of my workouts last week. I stayed put a lot more than my crazy week prior to that - though I did have a girls' night out in NYC (more on that to come!). Without mountains to climb and my usual fitness studios around, and with a lot of people to spend time with, it has been the Jillian Michaels' DVD show around here. Sunday I did a 30-minute Jillian Yoga Inferno DVD with my mom. This was the day after my best friend's wedding festivities and I was feeling pretty sluggish, so I was happy I squeezed any movement in at all. Monday morning I did a 20-minute workout via Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred DVD, and in the evening I did a ... [Read More]

Chocolate Covered Cherry “Nice” Cream
A recent study found that America's favorite dessert is beloved, creamy, dreamy ice cream. Taking it one step further, this Yahoo study also found the overall favorite ice cream flavor to be chocolate... and I for one cannot argue these findings. Fro yo, protein ice cream, banana "nice" cream, gelato, soft serve, the regular real thing - I love it all. Last week I was surprised with not one, but two birthday ice cream cakes (along with a chocolate cake as well as a slice of cheesecake - all on separate occasions with different family members and friends!), both of which I enjoyed a piece of. Clearly I indulge in the real thing sometimes, but then there are lots of times when I want a frozen treat, but I also want it to be nice and healthy...and that's when my food processor comes ... Weekly Workout Recap: No Excuses in Making Exercise a Priority {Jersey Vacation}
Hi friends! I had such an awesome time on vacation last week, but I missed you guys! Even though I had access to my computer some of the time, I really stayed away and just enjoyed visiting my family and friends in Jersey. Between my full-time work, blog/freelance work, and personal email, I get a ridiculous amount of emails, and it felt kind of nice to ignore them for an entire 9 days. Now I'm just trying to catch up and decompress from the craziness that was last week! My hubby flew back to San Diego yesterday, while I'm staying with my parents in Jersey and working from here for the next few weeks to get more quality time in with my loved ones. I decided that since this is a long trip, I'm going to post weekly workout recaps while I'm away from my home. It can be tough to keep ... [Read More]
My Before 30 Bucket List
Hey, hey! What do Lucille Ball, Andy Warhol and I all have in common? All of us were born on this day! Today I turn 28. My little cousin was also born on this day, and I'm exactly 10 years older than her. I'll be going to my best friend's wedding rehearsal dinner in the evening. I'm not sure what other birthday celebrations are in store with my family and hubby, but I love celebrating birthdays! In thinking about turning one year older, last month I came up with a list of things I want to do before I turn 30, and I wanted to share it with you today. Some of the things are very doable (i.e. make vegan smores over my fire pit) and some are going to be a little, shall we say, tougher to execute (i.e. see big cats in the wild and be part of a flashmob), but they are all things that I ... Baked Sun-Dried Tomato & Artichoke Goat Cheese Dip
Meet my new favorite kitchen gadget: my brand new Kitchen Aid food processor. You know when something happens and you're initially bummed about it, but then everything turns out well in the end? This was the case with my food processor a couple of weeks ago. I was happily making these date truffles in it, and when I went to scoop out the dough, my blade was stuck on the processor base. Superglued on there. Unfortunately, this was a dejavu scenario because it happened once before to me with the same gadget a couple of years ago. I took it this old fix-it man who took forever to get it back to me, but I was happy because he fixed it. However, when I went to call the same man this time, I found that he had retired. And there are no other Kitchen Aid support people in my area. Noooo. ... [Read More]
