Hi there! How was your weekend?
I’m back home in Cali, and spent most of the weekend recovering from my travels (hey jet lag!), getting settled back in, and spending time with my Harley girl.
3 weeks without my canine sidekick felt like awhile, and I definitely missed her a lot. My Marine has been away for training and came home last night, soYAY for being reunited with him after a couple of weeks apart!
Let’s rewind back to last week for my last recap of my workouts while I was visiting loved ones in New Jersey. I definitely have not been as active as I usually am in my normal life at home, but I kept up with daily workouts whenever I could fit them in.
I worked out Sunday with my mom. We did a 30 minute Jillian Michaels’ Yoga Inferno workout + 30 minutes of Ripped in 30 Week 1. It was my first time doing Week 1 of the DVD, and it’s definitely still a great workout! Monday I did a 45 minute HIIT workout via FitnessGlo, plus I walked this cutie for 20 minutes:
Every time I try to workout in my parents’ living room, she rolls around on the ground practically on top of me (pictured above!) and gets all of her toys out trying to play.
Tuesday was a rest day, then on Wednesday I did a 30 minute Jillian Michaels’ Killer Body workout (Week 4) + 15 minutes of yoga & stretching + a 20 minute walk with my 3 nephews, our dog and my mom. On group walks, my oldest nephew drives his battery powered tractor, my middle nephew has to hold one of our hands as he clumsily walks, the 4 month baby gets pushed in a stroller, and the pup gets walked by one of us. We’re quite a crew!
Thursday’s workout was a 30 minute Ripped in 30 Week 3 workout + 15 minutes of stretching & yoga + 20 minutes of walking my parents’ pup. Now that my parents have a dog again, I like that I have someone to walk with me and get some activity in in the middle of the workday.
Friday was a rest day, as I was busy working, saying goodbye to family, and traveling, but I did walk around the airport for a good 45 minutes before my flight.
Anyone else get super stiff/sore legs during long flights? I don’t think we’re meant to sit on our butts for that many hours in a row!
Saturday I was pretty exhausted, and decided to take it easy with a 45-minute walk along the coast with Harley. It was such a gorgeous weekend weather-wise, and it felt great to get some time outside back in SoCal!
On the topic of being outdoors, you may have noticed that my week 1 and week 2 east coast exercise recaps were full of mostly at-home workouts, and week 3 was no different. I didn’t mind squeezing in workouts in my parents’ living room since 1.) my trip was so busy, 2.) it’s pretty damn hot and humid in the northeast in August, and 3.) there are no mountains to hike near my hometown, but I’m looking forward to being outside again more for exercise now that I’m back in San Diego. I see some hikes, tennis sessions and biking excursions in my near future I think!
Tell me… Do you prefer to workout outdoors, at-home, or at a gym or studio?

I love working out outdoors. When I am at my parents house, I bring my computer outside on their porch or patio and workout there. Sometimes I will head to the beach for some beach yoga. They don’t have a lot of mountains near them but I love walking to the beach or biking along the many bike paths. In SP I usually workout indoors and then go for a walk with the baby after my a.m. workout. We also usually play tennis on the weekends, which is nice!

I always notice your outdoor patio pics when you’re staying at your parents’ house because it’s so pretty looking!

Welcome home! I like a mix of indoor and outdoor. I love to lift, but this CA weather makes me want to live outside. 🙂

I’m with you, I love getting outside as much as I can!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy says
Welcome back 🙂
I like to workout outside as much as possible, as I find that I can breathe better. But I don’t like working out in the rain, which happens a lot in the UK.
foodielovesfitness says
Yeaaa, working out in the rain feels good once in awhile, but overall it’s much nicer to workout in the sunshine 🙂

Welcome home! I love working out outdoors, but only when the weather is nice. Winters in Wisconsin can be a bit brutal 😉 And I agree about sitting on a plane too long, it drives me nuts!
foodielovesfitness says
Ah yes, I agree that working out in brutal winter weather is not fun. You gotta get those outdoor workouts in while the weather is still nice! 😉

You and your sister are impressive yogis! That’s awesome that she’s a certified instructor too!
And yay for being reunited with Harley! I know exactly how that feels and it’s always so nice to come home to their unconditional love!

Absolutely! Coming home to pups is the BEST. Even when I just go out to run a few errands, she goes crazy with excitement greeting me… love it!

WOW!! Girl you are SO inspiring!! Seriously, you are my FITspiration 🙂 And I def love a good outdoor workout! There’s nothing like being out in nature!! It’s so calming and beautiful!

Thanks so much Cailee! I agree, exercising out in nature is so relaxing and centers me every time.

Yay for family time, it’s so important! 🙂 Those Jillian workouts are rough.. I’ve done the Ripped in 30 before, and the 30 Day Shred as well. And yes, I haaate sitting on my butt on flights!! Haha. Me, I’m usually all about the outdoor workouts, but sometimes the Texas heat makes that tough! Haha. Welcome back!

Oh yea, I love Jillian videos! Ugh, long flights are a pain in the butt (literally!).
