Hi there! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My weekend was filled with things like experimenting in the kitchen, gardening & house stuff, a beach date with friends on what turned out to be a cloudy day, playing tennis, eating dinner at one of my favorite healthy cafes and watching movies. It was the first time in three weeks that I got to hang out with my Marine without either of us having work or being away, and it was not too shabby of a weekend! Any who, onto today's topic: trail mix. It's one of those grab and go snacks that can be a healthy bite to give you lots of energy, but it can also be not all that nutritious if it's loaded with stuff like M&Ms. I generally like my trail mixes pretty simple: some type of fruit, some type of nut, usually a little ... Bachelorette Partying in Miami [Travel Recap]
In college, I was never part of a sorority. I always had female roommates, but I don't think I had ever stayed in a place with a double digit number of friends....until my trip to Miami two weekends ago, when I got a mini taste of what it'd be like to live in a sorority house! Eleven other women and myself traveled to Miami to celebrate my best friend Meaghan's upcoming nuptials. She's getting married in August to her college sweetheart, who I got to know well when I lived with Meg my senior year of college. I thought it'd be fun to do a recap of the trip and tell you about the places we spent our time and the bachelorette festivities we partook in... and me being my food loving self, to also share my best eats. Let's get to it! Where We Stayed All of the other girls ... [Read More]
Apple Blueberry Oatmeal Ramekin Crisps
Like any good foodie, at any given time, I have a couple of foods, meals, grocery spots, and kitchen tools that I'm particularly loving. Lately, I've been obsessed with a grocery store near me called Frazier Farms Market. They look like your typical big food store, but they carry a lot of specialty items that I can't find elsewhere, and are actually reasonably priced. My favorite part about Frazier Farms? They're not a chain store! I love supporting small business. They have 2 locations, both of which are nearby, and they carry a ton of locally made products, like cheese from farms in my county and honey from bee keepers located in the town next to me. Naturally, I've been obsessed with the above pictured honey. I love honey in general, but locally made unfiltered honey is even better. I ... [Read More]

4 Instances You Should Skip Your Workout
Last week I decided to do something that I pretty much never do: take an entire week off from working out. I had been exercising pretty hard, and my nagging calf and foot injuries were bothering me, so I knew that at least a few days of rest was necessary. With a 4-day trip to Miami coming up, I decided it was the perfect time to give my body a rest from working out for a solid week. Besides a very mellow yoga session one morning, walking around a decent amount in Miami, and taking my pup for walks once I got home, I got little exercise all week. Everyone has a different exercise balance that works for them. Me? I'm somewhat of a fitness freak. Typically I train 6 days a week, with one of those days being something low-impact, like a long yoga session. I switch up my routine a ... [Read More]
{Throwback Thursday} Warrior Pose: How Yoga (Literally) Saved My Life *Book Review & Interview*
Hi friends! Since my week of posting is a little out of whack due to my traveling on Monday and not posting as I usually do, and since my friend Brittany just started a Throwback Thursday link-up, I decided to join in on the fun with her today! The gist of Throwback Thursday is for bloggers to revive older blog posts that we like, and today I'm republishing a post that I originally shared in June 2013 about the book Warrior Pose: How Yoga (Literally) Saved My Life. The author owns a yoga studio here in San Diego, and I really want to visit there and meet him in person sometime. This original post was a book giveaway, so I edited that section around this time around. But I really enjoyed reading the book and interviewing its author, so I wanted to share my review of it and ... [Read More]
