Hi there!
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My weekend was filled with things like experimenting in the kitchen, gardening & house stuff, a beach date with friends on what turned out to be a cloudy day, playing tennis, eating dinner at one of my favorite healthy cafes and watching movies.
It was the first time in three weeks that I got to hang out with my Marine without either of us having work or being away, and it was not too shabby of a weekend!
Any who, onto today’s topic: trail mix. It’s one of those grab and go snacks that can be a healthy bite to give you lots of energy, but it can also be not all that nutritious if it’s loaded with stuff like M&Ms. I generally like my trail mixes pretty simple: some type of fruit, some type of nut, usually a little something with healthy chocolate, as well as something else crunchy and salty, like pretzels or granola clusters.
Today’s trail mix is a simple combo of sweet + spicy flavors, thanks in part to the sriracha almonds that my friends at Blue Diamond recently sent me to try. In all honesty, I wasn’t sure I’d like them, as I’m not someone who craves spiciness or digs sriracha, but I figured I’d give it a try. My thoughts? They are so good and kind of addicting! There’s something about the combo of crunchy almonds with the cayenne + paprika spiciness of sriracha that I’m seriously digging.
They’re not too overpowering, and have just the right amount of a spicy kick. Besides eating them straight out of the can, I figured what better way to enjoy my sriracha almonds than with a trail mix I could portion out to just grab on-the-go.
Mini pretzels. Sriracha almonds. Dried cherries. Dark chocolate chips. This trail mix takes just a moment to throw together and is just a simple, delicious combo.
I portioned mine out into sandwich bags, and wound up taking a few to a live music event last week, where I met my friend to enjoy some wine and music on a farm.
