Happy, happy Friday! Any fabulous plans for this weekend? I’m looking forward to my long weekend full of football watching, a hiking date with my hubby, doing some recipe experimentation, a workout with a girlfriend of mine, and a mix of both doing some productive things and relaxing.
Today’s topic is a never-ending love of mine – fruit. I have a serious obsession with fruit, from apples and banana to cherries and strawberries.
In fact, while I enjoy veggies, I have to kind of plan them into my meals mindfully. Otherwise, on the produce front, my diet would consist of all the fruit and none of the veggies.
Since I have a huge sweet tooth, I’m always finding ways to make meals that could be dessert, but are also healthy and nutritious enough to be considered a wholesome meal. I’m sneaky like that.
Cue my latest lunch love: a frozen berry banana protein bowl.
Creamy, cold, and sweet, I consider this doozie a healthy version of ice cream. I whip it up in 2 minutes flat, pour it into a bowl, and top it with whatever my heart desires – which usually includes some sort of granola or cereal, nut butter, and perhaps a few dark chocolate chips.
Sometimes I even get crazy and also throw in dried fruit, cashews or almonds. The great thing is that the possibilities are endless, and you can use whatever frozen fruit and toppings are your favorite.
2-Minute Frozen Berry Banana Sorbet
Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen raspberries cherries or strawberries
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup milk of your choice I usually use chocolate soy milk
- 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder of your choice
- 1 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1- g packet of stevia sweetener
- Toppings of your choice: nut butter nuts, dried fruit, granola, cereal, chocolate chips, coconut shreds, etc.
Instructions
- Place all ingredients except toppings into a food processor, and pulse until smooth.
- Pour into a bowl, add your toppings, and enjoy!
Tell me… Are you more of a fruit or veggie fan? What’s your favorite recipe that could pass as both a meal and dessert?

I am a big fruit fan! I love acai bowls with fruit in them. So so good!

Me too, I just bought frozen acai packs and have been using those in my berry bowls… so good!

I’m a fruit fanatic too. I try to consume most/all my fruit in the earlier parts of my day to get all the sugar into my blood. Then I can use my super hero sugar powers all day long. This sorbet looks SOSOSOOO GOOD.

Me too, I’m all about fruit with breakfast and lunch!

I could seriously live off of fruit! Love ‘nana ice creams and sorbets… so healthy, but tastes so sinful 🙂
foodielovesfitness says
Those are my favorite kinds of recipes! 🙂
Nicole @ Squash on Squash says
Frozen fruits make the best desserts!! They are so much creamier when blended too 🙂 I tend to stick to banana or banana/strawberry but the multi berry is a great idea too 🙂

Frozen banana is so much different than regular banana in smoothies & sorbets, right? I always stick bananas in the freezer so I can use em for these kinds of things!

I definitely am a bigger fruit fan as well! My favorite frozen fruit to do smoothies with is peaches.
foodielovesfitness says
I love fresh peaches when they’re in season! I think I have some frozen peaches that have been hanging in my freezer that I’ll need to use for something soon.
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy says
This is a staple in our house in the summer. I love it.
I am more of a fan of veggies, just because I like putting hot sauce on everything and it doesn’t go too well on fruit haha
foodielovesfitness says
Hahaha, you’re a hot sauce fan eh?
