Hello, hello!
Many of you know this since I talk about it all the time, but I love varying my workouts and switching my fitness routine up often. It keeps things interesting for both my body and mind, and makes me look forward to my workouts instead of feeling bored. I’d love to be a regular at a bunch of different studios, but each specialty gym usually costs a pretty penny for membership. That’s why I was excited when I heard that ClassPass was starting up in San Diego!
So exactly what is ClassPass?
- ClassPass is a monthly fitness subscription service that allows members to go to an unlimited number of classes at participating studios (limited to 3 classes at each studio per month) for $99 a month (less than pretty much each participating studio charges on its own might I add!).
- As an alternative to a regular gym membership, ClassPass partners with a variety of studios to give members lots of workout options – with everything from dance and yoga, to martial arts and cycling.
- ClassPass started in NYC and is currently in Boston, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, Washington D.C., Seattle…. and now San Diego!
- You can find out more details by checking out the ClassPass FAQ page.
I absolutely love the concept of ClassPass and think it’s brilliant. In case you’re interested, I read an awesome Fortune article about how the company got its start here.
I’ll be doing a recap of my ClassPass experience, but since it started in San Diego last week, I’ve participated in a yoga class at a studio in my town, a boxing class and a barre workout. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far, and am expecting to be continuously sore for the next month trying out different workouts. I can’t wait!
Disclaimer: I am receiving a ClassPass membership for free, but as always, all opinions expressed are my own.
Tell me… Have you heard of/tried ClassPass? What was the last workout that left you feeling sore?

I have heard of class pass but haven’t tried it yet. It would be good for me because I love all different studios! Although I have heard that it is difficult to get a class pass spot at some of my favorite studios.
foodielovesfitness says
Yes, you’d enjoy it too because you love to try out lots of classes like me! Yeah, I haven’t experienced that yet but in NYC it’s probably more crowded at popular classes. Also, the studios have the right to block out their most popular classes from ClassPass members if they choose.

Hey lady! Is there a specific type of Polartec watch you have? and do you love it? Thinking of asking for one for Christmas but I don’t want to get the wrong one 🙂
foodielovesfitness says
Yes I love it! It’s a Polar FT40. I did a review on it awhile back – tweeting you the link to the review so you can check it out 🙂
Sarah @ Making Thyme for Health says
I think ClassPass is such a brilliant idea! I didn’t get to take advantage of most of the classes because I don’t live close enough to the city but it really is a great deal. I hope they expand to more studios in the East Bay soon!
foodielovesfitness says
I hear ya, I live in the most northern area in San Diego so some of the classes are pretty far from me… but, I think that as ClassPass expands, it’ll be more accessible for people not living right in the middle of the cities.

I think I’ve heard of Class Pass (don’t they have it in NYC?). Sounds like a super idea!!!
foodielovesfitness says
Yup, ClassPass started in NYC!
Richard Grieser says
I tried ClassPass, and was very impressed. Trouble is I now want to signup up with several studios in the DC area. That’s a good problem to have I guess. 🙂
foodielovesfitness says
Ha! That’s probably going to be my problem too 🙂
Ali says
Classpass sounds like a very cool company! Can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
foodielovesfitness says
Thanks, Ali! I’ll be doing a recap of my experience in a couple of weeks.
Aurora@Fitness is Sweet says
I love this idea! I was in DC last summer and went to some random classes, but this would have made it so much easier/better. It would also be perfect for someone in a city for only a few months because fitness classes are such a great way to explore!
foodielovesfitness says
Definitely, especially since there’s no longterm commitment or anything!

I also love to switch up my workouts – it definitely helps me stay on track with my fitness goals and prevents me from getting bored, which can happen very easily if I don’t switch things up. I usually just go to different classes at my gym, but I stick with the ones that change it up for every class, like boxing, zumba, and certain strength classes. But ClassPass is a great idea and I’m sure I’d discover so many amazing workouts here in NYC if I were to use one. I got a free class through them once but didn’t have the opportunity to use it 🙁 Maybe one day!
foodielovesfitness says
You should check it out sometime! I’m with you, exercise can get boring if you don’t shake things up.

So I did a 500 rep kettle bell workout from Pumps & Iron last week that left me SO SORE!!
foodielovesfitness says
Nice! I love kettle bell workouts.
Christine @ Gotta Eat Green says
Class pass is a brilliant idea! Perfect way to try out a bunch of classes. I think something like this popped up in Toronto recently, I’m going to have to try it out!
foodielovesfitness says
It just might! 😉 They’ve been expanding pretty quickly.
