Hi friends!
Today’s post topic is fun stuff you guys, so let’s get to it!
As some of you already know, I became a student at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition to become a certified health coach last January. I had gotten to this point where I had become fully aware of just how passionate I am about healthy living, and I wanted to somehow spend more of my energy in the wellness field. When I heard about IIN, it immediately clicked for me. My intuition told me that the school would be a perfect fit, and without giving it much time or too much thought, I enrolled.
Over the course of the year, I’ve been enthralled in the world of heath coaching. The reality of it is that I’ve been unofficially counseling my friends and family for years on how they can be healthier and happier, and the idea of working with others as a wellness professional to help them create their best lives is exhilarating to me. I’m thrilled to be making health coaching an official title of mine, and I can’t wait to get started….
With that being said, my health coaching services are now available! I’m offering free health consultations, where we’ll discuss your health history, as well as health goals and concerns, and I’ll share details about what our work together would entail. I’ve created some pages on Foodie Loves Fitness to answer some commonly asked questions about health coaching, including:
So who needs a health coach?
In my opinion, just about everyone! Health coaches are like therapists in that they listen to your thoughts and feelings; they’re like nutritionists in that they talk to you about diet; and they’re like healers because they work to help resolve whatever challenges you have – whether your main concern is losing weight, working through some deep-seeded issues, developing self-confidence, learning how to cook or balancing stress.
We all have things that we can work on and it’s helpful to talk about the things that sometimes weigh us down mentally, physically and emotionally. Whenever I practiced health coaching sessions with my peer coach Hillary during the year, I found it to be beneficial to just talk about things that I think about but wouldn’t normally discuss.
About my health coaching style…
While diet and nutrition is certainly a big part of wellness, health is not just about food. During my program we’ll also talk about the other aspects of your life that may be benefitting or hindering your health. My philosophy emphasizes bio-individuality, meaning that what it takes to be YOUR best self is unique to YOU (which I explain more in depth in a Girls Gone Sporty article here). There will be no strict rules or diets in my program. Rather, we’ll work together to figure out how to best solve your health challenges and accomplish your primary health goals in gradual, realistic steps.
I’m offering my health coaching program either in person, over the phone, or via Skype, so it doesn’t matter where you live. Whether you’re near me in SoCal or around the world, we can work together! As I’m still a student, my program fee is more affordable for the next few months until I graduate with my certification. If you’re interested in learning more, I’d love to chat with you!
