Last weekend I aced my third test for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which means that I am 75% done with my health coaching certification! Time really does fly when you’re studying and doing work that you’re passionate about and are infinitely interested in.
Being the quote lover that I am, when I was studying for my last test, I noticed some favorite concepts and quotes that I had jotted down throughout my recent lessons. Since I think that you all may enjoy them too, today I thought I’d share them. Let’s get to it!
I just love this one and find it to be so true. Think about it: Americans are known for fast-food eating and chowing down on convenient overly processed food. Not so coincidentally, Americans are also overworked, overtired, always rushing and always late.
The food that I nourish myself with is important to me. I aim to eat with intention and love, as I believe in giving my all to the things I do in life and in being the best me that I can be.
People can seemingly have it all, yet not really be happy at all. Happiness is something that we all fight to have, and we must cultivate it in our lives. Sure, your level of happiness may greatly increase if everything’s going your way, but being truly happy means knowing and being confident in who you are. It means being true to you.
At IIN, we refer to all of the things that nourish you besides food primary food. It includes lots of things, like the relationships you have, the work you do, your spirituality, and the physical activity and home cooking that you do. You can have a really clean, nourishing diet, yet not be healthy if your primary food is all out of whack. Finding balance and happiness in the aspects of your primary food is one big piece of the puzzle to wellness.
This quote reminds me that anyone who has ever been a master at anything has worked their ass off for it. Great achievement takes hard work and dedication.
Unfortunately this is the truth. It’s estimated that 33% of all added sugar intake is solely from soft drink consumption. That’s a problem, as high sugar intake is linked to obesity, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and hypertension – all of which are all too prevalent these days.
It’s powerful to me to think about how we literally determine what our cells are made up of. Our bodies are constantly regenerating and renewing our cells – which we have trillions and trillions of. When we consistently eat nutrient-dense foods, new healthy cells are made. The opposite is true too, so if you consistently are eating nutrient-deficient foods, the cells that make up your body reflect that.
A recent IIN lecture focused on abundance – that feeling of plentitude, living in the state of knowing that all we need is here and taken care of. I love the above mantra because it reinforces the idea of abundance and in believing that we have enough, will always have enough, and that we ourselves are enough.
Tell me… What’s your current favorite mantra or quote?
Stay tuned, because I have a very exciting announcement related to health coaching coming very soon! You can also check out other IIN related posts that I’ve written below:

Happiness is an inside job. What a good quote! My favorite right now is “there will always be flowers for those that want to see them.” there will never be a time when everything goes right. Things goes wrong. But you have to choose to weigh the good over the bad, and see the light even when it’s dark. That’s the only way to live happily.

I know, I love that one too! Very true, you’re so right. That’s similar to, “While some complain that roses have thorns, other rejoice that thorns have roses.” I always try to see the good in things.

These are all great sayings! Thanks for sharing them Nicole. I think I’m going to print that last one out to keep in mind.

I hope that you do, Ali! I also like to stick quotes around me as good reminders.

Congrats on acing your test! I can’t believe you’re so close to finishing, that’s awesome. If this year wasn’t so crazy expensive for me, I’d definitely consider signing up for IIN because it sounds amazing and right up my alley. Maybe someday soon! For now, I’ll live vicariously through you. 🙂
And yes Americans work way too much, myself included. Sometimes I dream about living somewhere in Europe where life is quiet and simple. Walking to the market a few times a week to get fresh produce for dinner. Aaahhh. No such luck here in ‘Merica. 😉

It probably would be right up your alley! Let me know if you are seriously considering it one day. We can chat more about it then!
I know, I totally agree. My hubby and I would absolutely pack up and move to Europe if we had the opportunity – who knows, maybe one day?!

Great quotes! I definitely think that we are what we eat is so so so true! I try to remember that all the time. Recently I’ve also been considering it in the sense that not only am I what I eat but the baby is too! It’s extra motivation to eat well!

That’s great! I can only imagine that I’ll be the same way when I’m pregnant one day.

I just absolutely love this post – hopefully I will be able to save up the money to attend IIN as well. It really seems so worth it if you have a passion for health and wellbeing.

Thank you, Hanna! Yeah, I think that going to IIN is great just for personal health knowledge and education, even if you decide that you don’t want to pursue health coaching. Knowing that you love healthy living, I think you’d really enjoy taking the course as I have. Don’t hesitate to email me with any questions you have – I’d be happy to answer anything!
