Hi friends!
First thing’s first: the results of my KIND Healthy Snacks giveaway! The winner is Sharon, who commented and said that she loves KIND bars and really wants to try the peanut butter & dark chocolate protein flavor. Congrats Sharon! I’ve emailed you for your address.
The other day as my husband and I were sitting down to have dinner together, I said something like, “So guess what? I’m so excited….”
Him: “That’s good baby.”
Me: “Well don’t you want to know why?”
Him: [Smirk]
Me: “What does that smirk mean?”
Him: “Well you’re always excited about something.”
Indeed, one of the running jokes in our relationship is A saying that I’m always enthusiastic about something, whether it’s something little or something that’s a big deal. It’s a stark contrast to A, whose nowhere near as easily excited. It’s pretty fitting of our personalities in general, as he’s usually cool as a cucumber while I tend to be a bit bubbly and animated. It leads to a lot of me saying, “Are you excited about ___??” and him just nodding his head and saying, “Sure love.”
In the spirit of my excitement, today I thought I’d share 5 things I’m currently happy about or looking forward to:
1.) 4th of July and a 3 day weekend! I just love fireworks, and we’re having a couple of friends over, so I’m going to come up with a fun poolside menu for us to nosh on. I know for sure that I’ll be making sangria, which I’m looking forward to because I haven’t made it in awhile. My hubby has been out of town for work, so it’ll be especially nice to have a long weekend together.
A little tidbit: This 4th of July marks 5 years since A proposed to me. 🙂
2.) Blogfest at IDEA World! After considering it for awhile, I finally registered for Blogfest in August. It’ll be my first ever blogger conference, and I’m really looking forward to connecting with other bloggers and attending all of the fun sessions. Not to mention the fact that Jillian Michaels, my favorite at-home workout trainer, is the keynote speaker!
(How cool is the above picture?)
3.) Massage time: I’m kicking off my long weekend with a massage tomorrow evening. I had mentioned a few months ago that I pinched a nerve in my neck, and now I think I pinched a nerve on the other side, again, just doing something silly. Last time it happened when I reached backwards for my iPad charger, this time it was when I was stretching at the end of a hike. My only explanation is that I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck, and with all of the working out and sitting at my desk that I do, things just get out of whack and need to get unknotted. So, I’m hoping that a deep tissue massage will help!
4.) My new patio furniture: After looking around for what felt like forever for furniture to go under my backyard cabana, I finally found a cute but not outrageously priced conversation set…. and I love it! I often eat dinner or have a smoothie break out there….
5.) Also in my backyard… rose bushes!
When we first moved into our new house, there were these dead looking bushes alongside the house. I wasn’t sure what they were, but started watering them to see if anything bloomed. In a matter of 2 weeks, all of these beautiful roses have come alive. So far there are red and pink roses. Although I love flowers, I’m not that great of a gardener and am more used to killing things than making them come alive, so this was a pleasant surprise. They’re so pretty!
Questions: What are you currently excited about/looking forward to? Who else is going to Blogfest?!

Yayayayayayay!!! You are going to Blogfest! So excited!!!!
What you described between you and your husband is us 100%! Sometimes when we drive to the Cape, I’ll just talk and talk and talk the whole time about everything and my husband will just kind of sit back, cool as a cucumber. I’m always excited about something. The first time I’ve seen him truly truly excited is about the baby. It’s still like a 2 compared to my 10 but it’s nice to see!
Love your patio furniture!
I’m definitely excited for No. 1! That and I’m going on vacation in about a week and a half! Yay!

I know I’m excited to meet you!! I’m actually planning on looking through the IDEA session schedule this weekend, so I’ll be emailing you to see if there are any that we can attend together!
Aww! That’s really cute that he’s super excited for the baby 🙂

Your patio looks awesome! Where’d you get the furniture from if you don’t mind me asking?

Overstock.com!

That’s so funny! I always tell my boyfriend “I’m so excited for XYZ!” and he’s always like “you’re excited about everything.”
Also I love the patio furniture!

Maybe it’s a blogger chick thing to be this way?!! Haha.

You have so much to be excited about! That’s awesome. I am usually excited on the inside but it’s hard for me to express it on the outside, kind of weird now that I type it out!
PS: What a good looking couple! How did you guys meet?
foodielovesfitness says
Ah ha, so you’re more like my hubby than me in your outward excitement levels then! Ha.
Oh thank you Tara! We met in college. We had both transferred to our university and were living across the hall from each other… and the rest is history 🙂

I would be SO excited about all of these things too! C makes funny of me because I have a new “obsession” everyday which I find the need to declare to the world lol. I’m jealous you’re going to IDEA! I really wanted to go 🙁

BOOOO I would have been even more excited if you were going to the conference! Though I’m confident that our paths will cross someday…;-)

foodielovesfitness says
Thanks so much!! Yes, you’re totally right, we were college sweethearts and got married young — 23 (him) and 22 (me) to be exact!

I can usually find something to be excited about too! I mean why not be excited, the world is a beautiful place!! 🙂 I absolutely love your patio furniture. I think I would sleep out there at night lol. I’m super excited for today! I can’t wait for good food, hanging out with my family, and fireworks!
foodielovesfitness says
That is very true Alex! There is a lot to be happy about if you have a good attitude.
Hope you’re enjoying your 4th of July weekend!

I love your new patio setup! I would probably camp out there and never leave.
I have never been to a blog conference. Blogfest sounds so interesting! One of these days I’ll kick myself in the pants and just register for one. Preferably one in SF, since I’m kind of spent traveling for work all the time 🙂
foodielovesfitness says
Do it!! I’m sure that there’s one happening around SF sometime. This conference is only a short drive from me, which is nice.

Love your backyard furniture!! I was just thinking over the weekend that I need to schedule a massage…I’m jealous your gonna make it to the convention! It just isn’t working out for me this year, but i’m really hoping to get to at least one convention next year. There was just the Fitbloggin’ convention in Savannah last month, so between that one and Idea World conference, I’ll going to one of them! lol Hopefully I’ll see ya at one of them! 🙂 Can’t wait to hear all about it.
foodielovesfitness says
Yes I’m really excited to go to my first blogger conference. Definitely, hopefully we’ll cross paths at some point! I’ll obviously be posting all about my experience at IDEA World 🙂
