Hi friends!
I hope that all of you in the U.S. had a great Thanksgiving! I got back from San Diego late last night and had an awesome trip. I took a hiatus from my computer pretty much the whole time I was there, which was a nice change since I’m on my computer so much between work, blogging and personal use. But I missed you all! Let’s recap my Thanksgiving weekend highlights and how it all reminded me of how blessed I am:
There was a big hair change…. I chopped it off the first night I was in SoCal!
My hair had gotten too long and I wanted to get a cut, so I decided that I mine as well really cut it and donate it to a good cause. I chopped it off a few years ago and donated it, and my hair tends to grow back quickly — I thank all of the fruits and veggies I eat for that! My ponytail is being donated to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation to help make a wig for a kid fighting cancer.
Mildly creepy right?
I’m still getting used to the fact that it barely touches my shoulders at the moment and is a tiny little stub when I put it up, but it feels good knowing that my hair will help put a smile on a child’s face and make them feel happier during some heartbreaking circumstances.
My hair cut made me think about how thankful I am for my strong, healthy hair, because it’s symbolic of my overall health. Being in good health is the most important thing in the world.
While in San Diego, I got to spend time with a few military wife friends that I met while living there. We went on a double dinner date with my good friend Jackie (who was the first friend I made when I moved to San Diego!) and her hubby….
We had Thanksgiving at our friends’ Tiffany & Jeff’s house, then I attended her baby shower a few days later…
And we also visited our friends Leanna & Marco and got to meet their baby for the first time. Adam was in military training with her hubby a bunch of years ago when we met, but then they were stationed in Arizona when we stationed in San Diego. Funny enough, as soon as we moved from the city, then got assigned to live there, and we haven’t seen them in awhile, so it was nice to get together.
Spending time with friends reminds me how thankful I am for my family across the country, and my friends both near and far. Having great friends and family makes such a positive difference in life.
A trip to San Diego wouldn’t be complete without some time outside enjoying the beautiful scenery and weather. We spent Thanksgiving morning walking around the beach in Del Mar.
I even brought my mat and practiced some yoga on the beach, which was such a peaceful and nice way to start the holiday. Getting a good stretch in and centering myself felt great after driving the whole day before!
We also spent an hour one morning going for a long walk at a park near where we used to live.
Being active outdoors made me thankful for beautiful nature, appreciating the simple things and the sense of awesomeness I feel when I exercise.
I supported local biz on Saturday by picking up chai tea at our favorite local drive thru coffee joint, Cuppa Cuppa.
I’m thankful for small mom and pop shops, which I prefer an infinite amount more than Walmart and all of the crazy corporations out there where customers would trample you to death for a deal on an iPod.
There was much good food and wine enjoyed in San Diego. I’m thankful for yummy food and vino!
And lastly, we left Harley at the kennel while traveling to San Diego, which made me miss my crazy pup the past bunch of days. The place that she stays doesn’t allow dog pick-ups on Sunday, so I won’t be seeing her until tomorrow. I’m thankful for my dog!
Speaking of which, check out this cute little thing I picked up while in San Diego:
Agreed! I love it.
Share with me something that you’re thankful for!

Your hair looks fantastic and what a great cause to give it up for. That is so awesome. Looks like you had a great time in SD! I did too…I’ve never been to the Del Mar area though; we tend to stay around PB/Mission Beach/Ocean Beach/La Jolla, and the house we stayed at was in Fallbrook. The rocks and water look beautiful though! Glad you had a good weekend. You have a lot to be thankful for 🙂

I love your hair!!!! It looks so good! I am super jealous you got to practice yoga on the beach over Thanksgiving. It was really cold where I was. That backbend photo is cool!

Thanks so much!! Oooh girl, I’m going to be in the East coast cold in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see my family but I’m dreading the freezing temperatures. Yikes!
