Another weekend flew by, and another busy Monday has come and gone. While Mondays are usually just a “back to the grind” kind of day, this Monday in particular was an exciting day for my family. Earlier my second nephew was welcomed into the world! The one major downside to living in California is being on opposite coasts from my family… especially during times like this, when I just want to see this munchkin for myself instead of through my iPhone! But, I’ll have to wait to meet the little guy until I fly back to Jersey in 2 months.
Moving on to exercise, you may notice that when I talk about workouts, I frequently mention how much I love changing up my fitness routine. I feel that doing the same exercises over and over mentally leads to boredom, and physically leads to your body adjusting and no longer being challenged. For this reason, I’m always looking for new workouts to try, and in any given week, my workouts will include strength training, rowing, cycling, hiking, yoga, barre and whatever else comes my way.
A couple weeks ago, I visited Sky High Sports Trampoline Park to try an AIRobics class, then write a review on it for Girls Gone Sporty. As I initially thought, you may be wondering, what the hell is AIRobics? It’s described as a cardiovascular trampoline workout that helps to improve endurance, strength, balance and coordination. In a nutshell, it’s a trampoline workout that left me sweaty and feeling like a kid!
I invited the lovely Gina over at Health, Love and Chocolate if she’d like to join me. I was happy to have her there and not look like a total trampoline rookie all on my own!
Why hello beat red face. Jumping around on a trampoline really gets your heart rate up!
The class started off with us jumping around on our individual trampolines doing different moves, then moved to a segment where we jumped from one trampoline to another — which both Gina and I could use some practice on. I kept landing on the yellow dividers (pretty hard might I add), and she wound up on her butt at one point. But I’m convinced that if we tried the class a few times, we’d be pros! 😉
We then broke into groups and threw a foam ball to one another while bouncing around, then finished the class with a strength training segment that included arm band exercises, plank holds and pushups. You can read my full review of AIRobics here.
Another new thing thrown into my fitness repertoire in the past week or two is trying a brand new feature at my gym called Fitness OnRequest. It’s a virtual trainer on demand, which allows you to access all these different classes of varying lengths and levels and play them at your own convenience while in my gym’s aerobics room.
After you go through and select whatever class you want to try, a movie theater screen comes down in the room and the workout begins!
Yes, I’m the weirdo taking photos in the aerobics room, but I had to show you guys because it’s pretty awesome. So far I’ve taken advantage of their spin classes, and also will definitely be trying yoga, kickboxing, and whatever else looks interesting!
Quote of the day: “Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.”
Have you done a new workout recently? Is there a new exercise class or trend you’d really like to try?

This was so much fun, thank you again for the invite! Although my trampoline skills definitely do need a lot of work… ;-).

Not any more than mine! Hey all that matters is that we had fun and got a workout in right?! 😉

I tried SkyRobics and loved it! I was a sweaty mess afterwards. Not something I’d do regularly but like you said, it’s fun to change things up!
foodielovesfitness says
Definitely, glad I’m not the only sweaty mess after doing it!

That trampoline class looks so fun! I love trying out new workouts! I think the strangest workouts I have done are aqua cycling and trapeze! Both were a lot of fun but not something I would do regularly!

Ooooh acqua cycling sounds like fun! I’ll have to check that one out.

Congrats on your new nephew!!
Trying SUP while on vacation last summer was my most adventurous workout in recent memory. Trampoline class looks like fun!

Thank you, Tanya!
SUP is definitely an adventurous workout – and one that I would like to try sometime!
