Hi friends!
I’m blogging as I watch the ESPY Awards, feeling really inspired by all of the amazing athletes in this country and excited for football season to start pretty soon. I just watched sports journalist Robin Roberts receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, and what an amazing woman she is!
Today I’m doing a What I Ate Wednesday post since I have not shared my daily eats in a couple of weeks, but first I wanted to share a few pictures from the project that my hubby and I worked on last night: creating wine labels for our homemade merlot that we bottled a few weeks ago, and getting them on the bottles (mostly!) straight:
We’re calling our wines “Daniella Cellars” after my middle name, Danielle. The emblem on the top of the label is a crane after our last name (which is…Crane), and the photo of grapes is one that I took while in Napa. All in all, I’m happy with them!
Now onto food…
Breakfast included one of my current obsessions: almond butter. The Trader Joe’s brand with sea salt is just so yummy. I had some on an english muffin with banana and sprinkled cinnamon:
Lunch was a fruit-packed meal: strawberries, blueberries, and a peach with cottage cheese & granola.
My snack a couple of hours later was a typical pre-workout one, a chocolate peanut butter protein shake. In the mix:
- 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 2 TBSP PB 2 powdered peanut butter
- 1 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup chocolate almond milk
- 1 packet Stevia sweetener
- 1/2 frozen banana
I must say that I never get sick of drinking this shake!
Post-workout I drank a packet of Vega Sport Recovery Accelerator. I feel like I often have achy muscles, so I decided to try out a box of these in hopes that it’ll help me recover faster from tough workouts. I am really not a fan of the taste, but if it helps I think it’s worth it. I’ll post more about these at a later date!
Dinner was a veggie burger topped with a slice of provolone cheese + mashed avocado, with sauteed potatoes & spinach. I only added the spinach once I realized that I hadn’t eaten any green veggies all day – whoops! Hey, sometimes it happens.

Whoa. Wait. You make your own wine!? I am bowing down to you right now. So cool.

Ha, thanks! Though I’m definitely not an expert winemaker – this was my first time making homemade wine 🙂 It was a lot of fun making my own merlot though, and I think that I might try making a white wine (I’m thinking a riesling?!) soon!

I think your wine labels look great. I’ve never tried almond butter but I certainly would like to.

So I just stumbled upon your blog because I was looking at the Healthy Living Blogs website and liked your blog name! I’m considering joining their site. I just wanted to say all these meals look really tasty! I love veggie burgers but have never thought to just eat them with cheese and guac. Think outside the bun! haha

Hi Rachel, thanks for stopping by! I totally recommend joining – it’s fun to network with other bloggers who share the same interests!
Ha. Yes, don’t get me wrong, I love the bun and bread in general, but sometimes it’s nice to just leave it out of the equation 🙂
