Happy weekend! Do you like the randomness of this post’s title?!
It’s a Winter Wonderland
I was supposed to fly back to San Diego later on today, but I just heard that Newark airport is closed this morning. Craziness! I actually switched my flight yesterday already. I was thinking about rescheduling it anyways because I want to stick around longer for my grandma to get better, and the snow storm gave me an easy out. My grandmother is fighting through having pneumonia and scheduled for her surgery to remove the cancer next week, so I’m sticking around longer to be with her more.
At my parents house, we got around 6 inches or so of snow last night, but I’m hearing that up north got a ton of more snow. I hope that everyone in the northeast stays safe and warm during this winter storm!
Trying Out BluePrint Juices
My friend Danielle recently did the BluePrint juice cleanse and was telling me about how tasty she thought the juices were. I was curious to try them, and asked her to bring me a few of them when I got together with her a few nights ago for dinner:
I’m a fan of the style of BluePrint. Their juices are all organic and their tag line is ”Juice, the whole juice and nothing but the juice,” which I think is super cute. On their website, I saw that Food & Wine magazine called BluePrint ”the cleanse for foodies.” That convinced me that if I’m going to ever try a juice cleanse, this would probably be it!
For breakfast yesterday, I tried out the kale apple ginger romaine spinach cucumber celery parsley lemon juice (whew that’s a mouthful!). I’m not sure if I had just prepared myself for it to be really greeny, which I usually don’t love, but I liked it and thought it had a good amount of sweetness to it. It also kept my hunger at bay for a good 4 hours. I was iffy about the beet apple carrot lemon ginger juice since I’m not a lover of beets, but I tried it for lunch. If you like beets and a strong ginger flavor, you’d probably enjoy this one. Since I don’t, I didn’t like it. Other flavors that BluePrint offers include: lemon cayenne agave, gold pineapple apple mint and white cashew water vanilla cinnamon agave. I’d really like to try that last flavor – sounds so yummy!
While I’ve been interested in juicing for awhile, I think I want to get more into it as a way to add more goodness into my diet, but not as a cleanse. I’m going to ship the juicer that my parents have had sitting in their garage unused for awhile to my place, and will be experimenting with concocting nutritious and (hopefully) delicious juices in the near future. More to come on that. 🙂
Self-Love Talk: Do you Date Yourself?
Out of all the relationships in your life, the one you have with yourself is the most significant of them all. This bond sets the groundwork for a happy, full life and every other relationship you form. Regardless of your romantic relationship status, age or current situation, showing yourself some love is important no matter where you are in life. Making time just for you to do things you take pleasure in gives you time to relax, have fun and hopefully help you to learn some things about yourself.

On the agenda for my Saturday is to do a Jillian Michaels workout with my mom, then head to the hospital to visit my grandma. Have a great weekend!
