Happy Super Bowl Sunday from the chilly, snowy East coast!
I flew into Jersey yesterday to see my family. We recently got word that my grandma, who I’ve always been very close with, has cancer and needs to undergo a serious surgery. I wanted to come out here to visit her in the hospital and spend time with my loved ones, so I booked a last minute ticket. 2,500 miles is just a hop, skip, and a jump away when someone I love is sick!
Most of my time this week is going to be spent at the hospital, hanging with my family, and getting work done, but I still want to live really healthily this week, especially to keep on track with my DietBet. Besides planning ahead with my eats as much as I can and making sure I always have nutritious snacks on hand, I’d like to fit in some exercise time. I probably won’t be able to have super long workouts at all, but short workouts are certainly better than none at all right?
Here are the workouts I plan to do this week:
- Jillian Michaels – This woman has some kickass DVDs, and I own a bunch of em! I brought her Yoga Meltdown and Kickbox FastFix DVDs with me this week. The yoga one is my go-to workout if I want to decompress a bit, while the kickboxing workouts are great if I want to do high-intensity exercise. Both DVDs have 20-30 minute workouts, so they’re good to have on hand when I’m in a time crunch. For instance, this morning I set an alarm and woke up 30 minutes early to do one of the kickboxing routines before going to the hospital. I was feeling tired and jetlagged, but it felt good to sweat a bit and move after sitting on a plane all day yesterday.
- The 100 Challenge – If I’m really in a bind, I’ll do this workout. Roughly 10 minutes of 100 reps of exercises + 10 minutes of stretching = a nice quickie workout.
- Barre Method – I also brought along with me an Xtend Barre DVD. It’s packed with a combo of cardio and toning moves. The full DVD is about an hour total, but it also breaks down into segments that are short in length. If I’m crunched for time, I love that I can choose which body parts I want to focus most on.
- The Timed Trio – I might also bring back my trio challenge this week:
- Get a Little Nutty – And if I don’t feel like doing any of the above workouts, I’m going to just put on some music & jump around the living room to get my heart rate up for awhile. Jumping jacks, jogging in place, abdominal exercises, strength training with dumbbells, whatever works!
