Some days I walk into the gym knowing exactly what workout I want to do. Other days, I find myself indecisive about what exercises to do or body parts to work on. Sometimes I can quickly focus, while other times I feel like I have a scatterbrained workout. Feeling the latter about to happen, I jotted down a workout to do before I walked to the gym today. Instead of doing a typical workout where I strength train one or two body parts, I decided to do a circuit routine and touch on a bit of everything – legs, biceps, triceps, shoulders, abs and back. This is a nice exercise sequence to do if you’re feeling restless and don’t want to spend too much time on any one thing, as I was feeling today. A few things to note:
- This workout takes about 45 minutes.
- I recommend doing some active stretching beforehand and static stretching at the end.
- I used 12 lb. dumbbells. Adjust your weight accordingly.
- I biked for my cardio portion, but any type of exercise that gets your heart rate pumping will do the trick.
Following your workout, make sure to refuel with something nourishing! Today I had a banana agave smoothie.
Before I go, I have to share a few photos I took of my nutty dog in the car yesterday. Driving with Harley is always interesting. I have to close her leash in the door because if I don’t, she jumps from the front to back of the car about 20 times a minute and then breathes down my neck the whole time (yes, it’s very annoying!). Harley also insists that her window be down so she can stick her head and half her body outside as far as possible. If you have it up, she purposely hits the button and puts it down herself. If you lock the windows, she diligently whines.
Needless to say, I usually cave in and let her have her fun. Yesterday I was thoroughly entertained watching her stick her head out the window as we sped down the highway. Harley’s ears and mouth flip up in the wind, and her eyes look as if they’re bugging out of her head. Case in point:
The last one cracks me up! Oh how I love my crazy dog…. good night!
