Hope your week is off to a good start! My Monday consisted of getting work done, heading to the dog beach with Adam and Harley, and getting a workout in. After being sore all weekend from my gym session on Friday, I was happy to not feel so achy today and headed to the gym for what turned out to be a great workout. I felt fabulous afterwards. :) Last Saturday, Adam and I had a laid back night hanging out at home. When coming up with a dinner idea, I thought it'd be a perfect night to indulge in something fun and new. I had ripped a recipe for goat cheese fondue out of Vegetarian Times magazine, and decided to give it a go. I made a few changes to their original recipe, such as using Fontina instead of Swiss cheese. (As big of a cheese lover as I am, I don't enjoy Swiss at all.) I ... [Read More]

Lemony Goat Cheese Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms
This morning, Adam and I journeyed to the Little Italy farmer's market. Adam was determined to get some clams to steam for lunch, which stank up my kitchen in a way that no vegetarian like myself appreciates! While I had a few things I wanted to pick up, I happened to spot a veggie that made me excited... zucchini blossoms! A few months ago, I saw zucchini blossoms at the farmer's market for the first time and nabbed some. After having them at home for a few days, I came up with an idea of what to do with them... and looked in my fridge to find the blossoms brown and no longer fresh. Determined to pick them up again at the farmer's market the next weekend, I kept my eyes peeled for more zucchini blossoms but couldn't find any. Today was the first time since then that I've seen ... [Read More]
It’s the Little Things
Yesterday, Harley and I got to go play with Adam at the park for the first time this year. Here are some shots from our little excursion: It's a funny thing to think about what I miss most when my marine is gone... us going for walks, playing at the park, watching a movie together, having dinner... it really is the simple things that are the big things in life, don't you think? Hope you have a fabulous weekend! Adam and I have plans to celebrate his return with a dinner date at one of our favorite places :) ... [Read More]
Veggie & Fontina Panini with Basil Pesto + Homemade French Fries
Whew, this post's title is quite a mouthful! I must have been in a panini kind of mood after making balsamic portobello ones last week, because last night's dinner was yet another panini creation -- and a yummy one at that. I paired the sandwiches with baked French fries, mostly because my good friend was talking about making homemade fries the other day, which gave me a yen for them. I haven't made fries in awhile, and let me just say, if you're in the mood for them but don't want copious amounts of grease (and guilt) involved, I suggest making these easy fries as a side dish... Veggie & Fontina Cheese Panini with Basil Pesto + Homemade French Fries Makes 4 servings For panini: 1 c of loosely packed fresh basil leaves 1 whole garlic clove, peeled 2 TBSP ... [Read More]
Reuniting with My Marine
Well, it's official... I've completed my second deployment as a USMC wife!! I resisted the urge to count down the days until my hubby's arrival on my blog for obvious safety reasons, but he's back home as of this morning! In the past few months, Adam and I have talked about whether or not Harley would remember him when he got home. Well, as I predicted, she did not forget about her daddy, and gave him quite the warm welcoming (to say the very least) when he walked through the door. I have the video footage to prove it! She was going nuts, trying to jump all over him and dragging out her blankets and toys. I don't really think she knew what to do with herself! Here are a few funny photos of them reuniting: The deployments we've endured have been such big learning experiences for ... [Read More]
Losers Discuss Why They Can’t
You know you're a quote junkie when... You sit down to blog about a recipe, and wind up looking at quotes for a chunk of time instead. Since I'm now in a quote lovin' kind of mood, I thought I'd share my favorites from tonight: I love that last one, as I'm pretty confident that Harley thinks I'm one awesome human being... ...except maybe when I hold her like a baby and try to get her to pose for pretty sunset pictures! Good night! ... [Read More]
