After spending the afternoon having lunch on the beach with some fellow marine wives and sipping a glass of wine, I was in the mood to enjoy an alcoholic beverage last night. I tend to not make myself a drink when I’m home alone (hence, I consume a lot less alcohol when Adam is away!), but last night while watching boxing, I decided to come up with a new concoction – a better for you,
yet just as tasty strawberry daiquiri. Something about boxing and a fruity daiquiri seems to not fit together.. oh but how I enjoyed it! This drink has about 150 calories, makes a nice big glass, and will definitely be a repeat in my house.
- 1 c frozen strawberries
- 1.5 oz rum
- juice from 1/2 lemon
- 1 c water
- 2 Stevia packets, or another type of sweetener
- ice
Today wound up being a gorgeous day outside, but except for a long walk with Harley, I spent most of the day working on my apartment. Besides the usual stuff, like conquering a huge pile of laundry…
…I also did some fun redecorating. After taking probably way too long to narrow down my picture choices, I ordered and picked up photos for some new frames. The situation above my bed went from this:
To this:
No, I didn’t paint my walls a different shade, though it certainly looks like it.
There are pictures from Thailand, Italy, Hawaii, Napa, a hot air balloon ride Adam surprised me with for my last birthday, and our wedding day. They all now hang right above my bed to remind me of these amazing memories!
I also revamped my patio, adding flowers, chair cushions, a new table and a basil plant (no more paying for it at the store, yea!). I’m loving the idea of it as a cozy space where we’ll now like to eat dinner:
Anyone else find that house projects always wind up taking way more time than anticipated? My day just flew by! When the window came and went for me to actually get to the gym, I instead got my exercise on at home. While watching an episode of the always classy Real Housewives of New Jersey show, I bounced around my living room and did a ton of squats, lunges, strength training and kickboxing moves. Hey whatever gets you sweating and your heart rate up, right?! Good night!
