Happy May!!
I thought it’d be fun to recap my top recipes from last month and highlight a few foods I’ve frequently been eating, so here goes!
My Top 5 April Recipes:
#1 – Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
#2 – Watermelon Smoothie
#3 – Peanut Japanese Noodles with Broccoli
#4 – Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin Pancakes
#5 – Rigatoni with Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto
Foods I’m loving:
Cascadian Farms Cinnamon Crunch
This cereal is deeeeliciousss. It’s like cinnamon toast crunch, but better for you. A 1-cup serving has 110 calories and 8 g sugar, making it a great nighttime snack. I love to eat it with some chocolate protein powder + almond milk. Its only downfall is being slightly addictive…
Fun flavored Chobani Greek Yogurts
I’ve been eating Chobani yogurts for awhile now, but just recently, my food store (and I noticed other food stores have em too!) got all of these new flavors in. No more just strawberry, peach, or vanilla options…these days my favorites are lemon, apple cinnamon, and strawberry banana! They’re all around 140-170 calories, pack an awesome amount of protein, and are great topped with fruit and nuts or in smoothies!
Pacific Beach Peanut Butter Spreads
I’m fully aware that it’s not fair to include such a tasty product line that is only available to people in my immediate area (but hey, you can buy it online!), but I seriously adore this line of peanut butter. About 3 weeks ago I mentioned in a post that I bought 3 new jars – dark chocolate, chocolate raspberry, and cinnamon PB spreads – and I’ve made substantial dents in each. I love it on an english muffin with sliced banana.
I just started getting into using sesame seeds in my cooking, and I’m a fan of the crunch and flavor it adds to dishes.
Trader Joe’s White Stilton Cheese with Apricots
If you’re a big fan of cheese, you seriously must try this. It’s just SO GOOD. I love to eat it with multigrain crackers or a TJ’s baby baguette + some fruit.
Back to the Basics: Apples
Yes, we all know the phrase an apple a day keeps the doctor away, which translates to THESE ARE GOOD FOR YOU PEOPLE! So yeah, I’ve been eating apples my whole life, but all of a sudden I’m finding myself eating them on a daily basis. When I first moved to Cali, I didn’t eat them too often because my favorite kind (McIntosh) doesn’t grow here, but I think my apple love surged after I discovered the awesomely sweet Pink Lady kind at the downtown farmer’s market. I usually chop one up and sprinkle cinnamon on top.
And now I’m hungry!! Time for a snack…
