Hello from San Diego! I got back home late last night and picked up Harley earlier today from the pet resort. She was a ball of energy until a few moments ago, when I sat down on my couch and put up my foot rest, her favorite napping spot. She promptly curled up on my legs and passed out. As I'm in a food coma from all the eating and drinking I did this vacation, I thought it'd be fun to highlight my favorites: Food Fresh fruit - I ate a ton of fruit in Thailand. Half the time I wasn't even sure what exotic fruit it was that I was eating. The pineapple and watermelon were especially delish and refreshing in the 95 degree, super humid weather! Street vendors and the Thais at the food huts on the beach will cut up and slice the fruit for you so you can enjoy it right then and ... [Read More]

Elephant Trekking in the Rainforest {Thailand Recap}
Check out who I got to hang out with: Adam and I journeyed to see one of the oldest rainforests in the world, called Khok Sok. I knew that I wanted to ride an elephant in Thailand, but I had also heard about the mistreatment of them out here in the name of tourism. Because I didn't want to support that, I did my research beforehand and found a company with a great reputation called Siam Safari. The rainforest was way off the beaten path of the popular Phuket area. As soon as we got there, I was in awe of how beautiful it is there: In the area we visited, the mahouts, aka elephant trainers, are part of a tribal group that lives in the mountains. First we got to ride an elephant through the jungle: Then we got to feed our elephant some ... [Read More]
Quick Update
Hi friends! I've been having an amazing time here in Thailand! Unfortunately my Internet connection has been iffy the past few days and I'm not able to upload any pics at the moment to show you what I've been up to. Two days ago we journeyed to what's believed to be the oldest rainforest in the entire world, called Khok Sok. It was a 4-hour drive each way, and I experienced some motion sickness made worse by the driver's crazy driving style and the insane twists & turns of the roads. But as soon as we got there, I knew it was well worth the trip. We trekked on an elephant through the jungle, had an authentic Thai lunch, then canoed down the Sok River. It was absolutely surreal, and I have many pics to share later. As expected, there has also been a lot of eating, drinking and sun. I ... [Read More]
We’re Off to a Fabulous Start in Thailand
Guess who arrived as scheduled late last night?! :) My Marine and I both made it through our flights with short layovers and multiple other modes of transportation without any serious delays or complications. Awesomeness, and also proof that sometimes things actually do work out according to plan! We spent our first day in Thailand soaking up the sun at the beach, swimming in the ocean and just relaxing. We were pleasantly surprised at how close the beach is from our hotel. We knew it was walking distance, but Kata Beach is literally right across the street! Not to mention that it was really interesting people watching today. Let's just say we saw (way too) many Speedo-clad men and topless women, and there were so many languages being spoken around us. I just love observing ... [Read More]
Greetings from Abroad in Thailand
I've traveled about 9,000 miles within a 24 hour timeframe and here I am, posting from Phuket, Thailand! All in all my travels went smoothly, but I was beyond happy when I got into my hotel room. My calves and back were feeling so tight from being in the same sitting position for so many hours. I did some stretching and yoga, which remedied my soreness and felt amazing. I don't know about you, but traveling makes me feel so icky. I couldn't wait to wash off all of the travel stink and get a bit organized (translation: hang up the closet's worth of clothes I brought!). Now all I need is my hubby to get here! If all goes as planned, he's supposed to be getting in about 12 hours after I did late tonight. I haven't seen too much of it just yet, but I really am liking my hotel thus far. ... [Read More]
Thailand Here I Come!
You know when you're about to leave your house for awhile and start to run out of the right combos of food? Case in point: my breakfast today was Kashi cereal, a sliced guava, and soy milk... chocolate soy milk! I ran out of my usual almond milk, but it actually wasn't too weird with chocolate. Harley apparently thinks the foreign currency I got is a treat for her: I dropped her off at the pet resort earlier, and she didn't even look back when I left (as usual). At least I don't have to worry about Harley getting depressed when I leave her there, considering she probably doesn't even realize I'm gone until I come back to pick her up. Ha. Anyways, my bags are packed and I'm ready to go on vacay! Dresses? Check. Bathing suits? Check. Shoes? Check. Underwear? Check. ... [Read More]
