Hope you’re having a great weekend!
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my friend Meaghan is flying in to see me in just a little bit.
I’m psyched for her to get here, as it’ll be some much needed girls’ time together!
In anticipation of her arrival, I made some homemade sangria. My mom and I concocted this mix together through a bit of trial & error, and this easy breezy recipe is one of my favorites. It reminds me of summer, laying on the beach in the company of my family, soaking in the sun and sipping on some of this yumminess.
Red Sangria
All you Need:
– 1 bottle of red wine (I used a Cabernet, but really anything works)
– 1/2 cup peach flavored schnapps
– 2-3 cups of no-calorie flavored sparkling water (as pictured, I used Crystal Bay cherry). You can add more or use less, depending on taste.
-Fruit: you can use whatever kind of fruit you like. Today I put in 1/2 chopped apple, 1/2 chopped nectarine, 6 maraschino cherries, a few sliced strawberries, and a few raspberries.
Combine the wine, schnapps, and fruit together in a pitcher, either the night before you intend to use it or the morning of. Add the sparkling water in within a few hours before you’re planning on drinking it (this just prevents it from fizzing out too much).
This’ll make 6 servings at around 150 calories each.
I have to go get ready to pick Meg up at the airport, then we’re off to dinner. I’m sure our night will include a little (or a lot of) sangria!
