I spent my afternoon wine tasting with a group of military wives at a winery in Escondido. The wife who set the whole get together up had a really good idea of making it a sort of Valentine’s Day celebration. She had all the husbands tell her their nicknames for their wives, and then she painted the names onto wine glasses that we tasted with and got to keep. I also got a handwritten letter from Adam and a flower. So cute! The winery had a pretty backdrop:
Not a bad way to spend part of my Sunday!
Today’s Workout
I don’t always like to hit up the gym to exercise, especially on weekends. This morning I decided to do a workout at home and came up with a total body routine. It took me around 20 minutes to complete this first part, and all you need is a set of light dumbbells:
For the second part, I tried the Insanity workout I found in Self magazine while I was flipping through it this AM. This also took 20 minutes and was no joke. By the end of it, my heart was racing and my face was beat red. It was great! You can check out the routine I did and try it yourself here: Insanity: 20 Minutes to Totally Toned
Within an hour of working out, I always try to eat something high in protein. Following this morning’s exercise, I whipped up this shake.
Vanilla Pumpkin Smoothie
Serves 1
- 1/2 cup pure pumpkin (Libby’s)
- 1 cup unsweetened milk (Almond Breeze)
- 1/4 TSP pumpkin pie spice
- 1/4 TSP vanilla extract
- 1/2 medium banana
- 1 TBSP blackstrap molasses (Plantation)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (Designer Whey)
- Ice
Combine all ingredients in a blender, then enjoy! Stats: 300 calories, 6 g fat, 22 g protein, 40 g carbs
Over the weekend, I added a ‘recipe’ page to my blog. All of the recipes I post on here will be listed in categories on that page for easy reference.
May your week start off well!
