It's interesting how sometimes we fall in and out of habits. For a few years, I was using my juicer all the time. Making a morning green juice became something that I did several days a week. After all, I do love getting in a hefty dose of fruits & veggies first thing in the day to power me through the morning! But somewhere along the line last year, I stopped using my juicer at home. I was still drinking green juice, I was just buying it out instead of preparing it myself. I blame having to clean the juicer on my juice making laziness. I mean, let's be honest, that thing is kind of a pain to clean! Even so, I've decided to bring my at-home juicing habit back in 2017. I got back into my Jack LaLanne Power Juicer groove - which I swiped from my parents' garage after it sat there ... [Read More]

Citrus Mint Cocktails {My Saturday Happy Hour}
If you're living in a place where it's cold and wintry, you may be dreaming of soaking up the warm sunshine lounging next to a pool, sipping on a refreshing fresh fruit cocktail... And if you're living somewhere where it's currently warm, a citrus cocktail probably still sounds delicious... because well, who doesn't love a fun fruity drink? Okay, don't answer that. There just may be a few people in the world who aren't citrus nor cocktail fans. While I'm all for a good cocktail, I myself am not a huge citrus person when it comes to certain things. Offer me an orange muffin or any kind of lemon candy and I'm all, Ehhh I'll pass. But when it comes to using it in my kitchen creations, citrus can sometimes be my cup of tea. I often make a simple salad dressing with fresh lemon juice, and I ... [Read More]
Cleansing, Foodie Loves Fitness Style: The Part Time Juice Cleanse
The idea of doing a cleanse to flush toxins and give my body a bit of a rest has always been interesting to me. But the idea of only juicing is not my idea of a fun time. Every time I've tried to do nothing but juice, I find myself hangry with little self-control by late afternoon - not to mention the fact that after several green juices, I'm practically repulsed at the thought of drinking another one. Let's face it, I'm a foodie and I love to eat! So instead, I've tried different kinds of cleanses - ones that involve chewing - like the Vegetarian Times 7-ingredient cleanse (posts on that here and here). I took a cue from that cleanse to come up with my own version of a cleanse last week! Because I'm active and like to work out, I like to feed my muscles. One thing that bugs me about ... [Read More]
Watermelon Cucumber Mint Juice
Lately I've been obsessed with watermelon - and rightly so I think, as it's such a refreshing summertime fruit. You may have noticed this because of my frequent mention of watermelon smoothies. Can't.stop.making.them! Besides blending smoothies, making salads like this one with it, and eating watermelon all on its own, I've also thrown it in my juicer a bunch of times lately. Does anyone else drink fresh juice out of a wine glass? I realized that I haven't posted a juice recipe in awhile, but that's not because I haven't been juicing. It's more so because for a few months there, I got a little boring with my juices: always apple, carrots, and ginger, and then I'd often thrown in spinach or cucumber. When I realized that I was in a juicing rut, I decided to get a little ... [Read More]
A Day of Detoxing
3 apples, 3 stalks of celery, 4 cups of kale, 2 Persian cucumbers, 3 large carrots, 1 cup of lentils, 2 cups of spinach, 1 cup of diced tomatoes, juice from 1/2 lemon. That's the awesome list of fruits and vegetables that I put into my body today. When I woke up this morning, I decided on a whim that this lovely Thursday would be a detoxifying day for me. Maybe it was because I felt like I needed a good dose of vegetables and fruits today, or maybe I just felt like a super healthy, self-love kinda day. My workout of the day was an hour of yoga, working out all of my tight spots and giving my achy muscles some low-impact movement. I juiced for breakfast and lunch, and surprisingly, wasn't really even feeling like I was starving for a real meal with some chewing involved until ... [Read More]
My New Favorite Juice: Minty Green Monster Lemonade
Hello, hello! You know when you're about to go on a trip and you have about 27 things to do before you leave the next morning? Yup, that's me right now. This trip is more complicated than usual ones in that I'll be heading to Amsterdam first for work (which leaves me busy with getting things done for that), then heading to three different countries for vacation. I'm very excited! But instead of being productive with that stuff, for the next few moments I'm taking a breather and chatting with you all. Forewarning though, this post may be a bit like my brain right now - all over the place and going a mile a minute! Bear with me my friends. Even though all of the places I'm going in Europe will have people who speak at least some English, it'd be nice to know the basics of the local ... [Read More]
