Who else is a snack queen or king?
I love me some yummy snacks! I definitely prefer to eat small meals and a few snacks throughout the day. I usually eat something every three hours or so, and when my sweet tooth hits, I have some go-to healthy snacks that satisfy it.
I also make sure to have protein-packed snacks around to satiate me, especially since I lead such an active lifestyle. I usually workout six days a week, plus I take my dog for walks every day, and I also squeeze in early morning yoga sessions most days as well. All of that movement depletes my glycogen stores and breaks down my muscle fibers, so I’m mindful about consuming protein post-workout to rebuild my muscles and fuel my body right.
Today I’m sharing five of my current favorite healthy, protein-rich snacks that also satisfy my sweet tooth. Let’s get to it!
Chocolate mint smoothie. This smoothie was created to taste like Thin Mint cookies, only healthier & in smoothie form! I’m crazy about the combo of chocolate + mint, and this smoothie tastes like a chocolate mint milkshake. Get the recipe here.
Blueberry lemon protein oats cookies. I often make a healthy snack recipe on the weekends that I can grab all week long, and these cookies are great to whip up and have on hand. The base of them is oats + almond flour, they’re sweetened with honey and fresh blueberries, and the lemon zest gives the cookies this fresh flavor pop. Get my recipe for these cookies on Shape‘s website here.
Fizzique sparkling protein water. I recently starting drinking Fizzique – the only sparkling protein water on the market – and it’s light, refreshing way to get in some protein post-workout or anytime I need a boost. It has 20 grams of protein & just 80 calories! You’d guess that it would taste heavy and chalky with those stats, but it honestly tastes like a lightly sweet fizzy drink, and I barely even notice all of the protein in there.
I love how it’s such an easy grab-and-go snack option, and I’ve been throwing it in my bag to drink in the car post-workout, sipping it in my office during busy work days, and have even brought it to the beach for an afternoon snack.
Fizzique’s protein comes from whey protein isolate, and it comes in two flavors: strawberry watermelon and tropical limon. I like both options, but strawberry watermelon is my favorite.

In full transparency, something that I don’t love about Fizzique’s sparkling protein waters is that they contain sucralose. I tend to stay away from artificial sweeteners, and would love it if they introduced new flavors that are sweetened with monk fruit or pure stevia. I would also absolutely love it if Fizzique came out with a sparkling protein water that has plant-based protein. Perhaps one day that’ll come to fruition! 😉
Banana oat protein pancakes. When I need a more substantial post-workout meal, I tend to go for protein pancakes. Made with oats, banana, and almond milk, it’s my go-to pancake batter. I dress them up differently depending on the day and what’s in my kitchen. Sometimes I get fancy and throw strawberries and mini chocolate chips on top, other days I just top them with a bit of honey and cinnamon. Check out the recipe here.
Easy PB banana protein shake. I drink a smoothie just about every day, and this smoothie has been one of my favorite combos for awhile. Sometimes I’ll add a green superfood supplement in, other times I pair it with a serving of a Lenny & Larry’s Complete Cookie. To whip it up, combine the following ingredients in a blender:
- 2/3 cup unsweetened cashew or almond milk
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 15g {plant-based} vanilla protein powder
- 2 TBSP powdered peanut butter
- 1/4 TSP cinnamon
- Pinch of stevia or monk fruit, optional
- Handful of ice
Tell me, what are your favorite protein-rich snacks? Which of these snacks do you most want to try?

I know that you are all about the protein-rich foods lady! Your healthy bowls always sound great – the zucchini one sounds interesting to me because I’ve never put zucchini in a sweet bowl like that before.

I am definitely, 100% a snacker. I mean I love a good snack…and it doesn’t help that we have a huge assortment of snacks on the counter at all times thanks to a certain toddler. Sometimes Dad just has to sample said snacks. Haha! But these are great snacking ideas. Thanks for sharing! I’ve always been a big fan of baking with oats. Yum!
